Talonborne

Talonborne adds flying hippogryph mounts to Vintage Story — found as eggs in wild nests, hatched at your homestead, raised by hand through every stage of their life, and finally saddled and flown across the open sky. No shortcuts, no spawn-and-ride: a hippogryph is earned.

◆ WILD NESTS & STOLEN EGGS

• Nests hide in remote grasslands, tucked into tall grass far from players — rare finds, never more than one in an area.
• Four bloodlines — Common, the scarcer Crystal and Fallen, and the rarest of all, Royal.
• Sneak + right-click a nest to lift out its dormant egg (or just smash the nest — hippogryphs don't judge).
• Every egg stage can be picked up and placed the same way. Dormant and hatching eggs keep their stage; an egg moved mid-incubation restarts it, so pick your hatchery first.

◆ HATCH & RAISE

• Incubation — a placed egg stirs within half a day, then warms through four stages over about a week, its shell coloring and glowing brighter at every step.
• Hatching — the crown cracks open over a smoldering, ember-lit core, and the egg trembles when you come near. Soon after, the hatchling breaks free.
• Growing up — baby, juvenile, adolescent: over a month of in-game days from egg to adult. A companion worth the wait.
• Carnivores — toss raw meat on the ground and they'll help themselves.
• Stay! — Ctrl + Shift + right-click and your hippogryph lies down and stays put until told otherwise. Mounting wakes it.

◆ THE SADDLE

No hippogryph will suffer a bareback rider. Stitch a hippogryph saddle from flax twine, leather and metal nails & strips — or with an awl, if you play with Tailor's Delight (the grid is in its handbook entry) — hold it and shift + right-click an adult to tack up, then right-click to mount.

◆ SADDLEBAGS  NEW

• Stitch a pair of feather-trimmed leather panniers from leather, flax twine and feathers.
• Shift + right-click your hippogryph's rump to strap them on behind the saddle — shift + right-click bare-handed to take them off.
• Right-click the bags to open them — 16 slots of storage, wherever you land.
• Your cargo stays inside the bags when you unstrap them — pack at home, fly out, unload at the far end.

◆ FLIGHT

• Jump launches you skyward with a beat of wings — and a takeoff whoosh.
• Ride forward for level flight; ease off to hover and glide.
• Hold sneak to descend; settle onto solid ground and it folds its wings and lands.
• On the ground it walks, paces and gallops like any steed — and every wingbeat, chirp and footfall is a hand-recorded sound.

• All four bloodlines fly the same — pick the plumage that suits you.
• Biomes-ready — wild nests spawn correctly alongside the Biomes mod, in every spawn mode.
