About this project

What does Algernon's 512 World Height Landforms add?

Most landform mods are created for the default 256 world height, but the world can get much higher than that.

When landforms that are made for a smaller world height are used in a world with a taller height, they get stretched vertically. Instead of getting a bigger world, you just get a stretched world.

These landforms are specifically made for the 512 block world height; the mountains don't look like skyscrapers, and the plains don't look like hills. More than that, they're built for distinct, large-scale landforms, so you can get valleys and clear differences between regions. Those distinct large-scale valleys also give room for the Watershed's mod's terrain-aware streams to flow through.

Important world setting:

Increase landform scale. This makes regions less chaotic and more distinct from one another. You're effectively scaling up how much land each terrain pattern gets: larger lakes, larger plains, larger valleys, larger mountain ranges.

Increasing landform scale makes the world feel bigger, which is the same reason why we increase the world height to 512.

The plants and animals change with the temperatures, so why shouldn't the terrain? With these landforms, you're going to find different terrain shapes in hot, temperate, and cold climates. Down south you'll see craggy canyons in the deserts, and up north you'll find fjords in the Taiga.

The higher the world height, the more likely you're going to see floating rocks and islands. A lot of time was spent testing each individual landform. With these landforms floating terrain is extremely rare. You're going to have consistent terrain quality everywhere you go.

Of course, just as the other landforms get stretched up if you play on 512 world height, this will be squished down and make your terrain flat on 256 world height. Make sure you check your world settings before you start.
