Quick answer
Which ReelMower release should I use?
ReelMower 1.6.1 targets 1.22.0, 1.22.1, 1.22.2. It must be installed on the client. Installation on the dedicated server is optional. All 1 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is ReelMower required on the client, server, or both?
It must be installed on the client. Installation on the dedicated server is optional.
This release supports both sides, but the source does not require it on the server.
What else does ReelMower 1.6.1 need?
1.6.1. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Cartwright´s Caravan first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup. 5 come through another mod in the chain.
5 extra mods were pulled in by other dependencies. Indented rows show who needs each one. We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does ReelMower add?
Update log
v1.3.4 Multiplayer — first MP build; others can see the blade spinning when you mow.
v1.3.5 The Sound Update — a real looping mow sound at ground level; nearby players hear it too.
v1.3.6 — fixed the sound looping forever after a blade snap.
v1.3.7 Dowels! — a lightweight 2-stick wall/tree peg to hang the mower on.
v1.3.8 — fixed the Dowels recipe (2 sticks).
v1.3.9 — extensible grass-cutting for other mods; Wildgrass included.
v1.4.0 Some Assembly Required — build the whole mower by hand, log to tool, with 12 shaft woods that show on the finished mower. (Old mowers must be rebuilt.)
v1.4.1 — shaft recipe now registers; wood texture no longer reverts while mowing.
v1.4.2 — fixed the long-standing multiplayer mowing crash.
v1.4.3 — real hammer swing on frame assembly (left-click); mod sounds fixed; nail refunds return the right metal.
v1.4.4 / v1.4.5 Linux fix — the release zip was packaged with Windows paths, silently breaking asset loading on Linux; fixed and verified. Big thanks to Zeriz. Added a creative "Reel Mower" tab.
v1.4.6 — land claims now respected across all five interactions; aged-wood recipe fixed; tested on a real dedicated server.
v1.4.7 — fixed a hammer-swing server crash (thanks Sparklingtips); blade blank costs 2 ingots as documented.
v1.4.8 — durability sits ahead of the scythe; worn blades come back at 0 to sharpen on a Grinding Wheel.
v1.4.9 — bare-blade stuck-animation first fix (thanks Findal_Falum); Pain & Atonement quietly added.
v1.5.0 Details Details Details — loose stones break for loot + a little damage (configurable); stuck animation truly fixed; 7-setting server config; grass-fling particles; dry-grass auto-collect; Dowels mower-only.
v1.5.1 — "A Cut Above" — the mower rebuilt to its concept art (wishbone yoke, spoked wagon wheels, twisted reel cage), plus a smith-and-fit bed knife and dyeable grips in all 13 colors. Over 9,400 distinct mowers now. Non-breaking.
v1.5.2 — "Push Comes to Mow" — the mower grew wheels. Right-click to set it down as a rideable push cart and mow by pushing; wheels roll, the reel spins (geared), the blade drains like before. Everything carries through deploy/pack-up. Runs dry → stops and dismounts you; hits water → packs itself up. Shaft now also takes 6 iron bits + 2 plain cloth. New dependency: Cartwright's Caravan. Full server-compat pass + cleanup. Non-breaking.
v1.5.3 — Left-click to seat — seat a blade or fit a bed knife with left-click (attack) as well as right-click. Helps when a pet/creature mod's tamed animal stands between you and a placed mower and grabs the right-click. Right-click unchanged. Thanks to Mr_Posey.
v1.5.4 — Point and Mow — every placed part shows crosshair interaction prompts (seat/fit/remove/detach), blade & bed-knife prompts show their icon while held, and the cart reads "Push the mower" / "Pack up" instead of "Sit." Every prompt shows your actual keybind, not a hardcoded default.
v1.5.5 — Snow Business — the head that goes in the frame no longer has to be a reel blade. Seat a snow auger and the machine becomes a snowblower: push it through snow to carve a path and hurl the snow out a chute you aim left or right on the fly (snow is piled a few blocks over, not deleted). The auger is forged from the same blade blank — just move the chisel to the other grid corner; the chute is a 3×3 of oak boards, copper bits, a straight chute, and iron plates. Renders on the cart, placed, and in-hand with the auger spinning; full handbook coverage. Cutting behavior now lives on the head itself, so grass and snow each bring their own. Non-breaking — every existing mower is untouched.
v1.5.6 — "Fit and Finish" — a model-accuracy pass. The bed knife moved to the rear of the reel, where a real push mower's sits — it shears against the bottom-back of the blade's arc — corrected on the held tool, the placed mower, and the cart. Trimmed a few frame struts that weren't earning their keep, and tuned the snow chute's shape. Model-only, fully non-breaking.
v1.5.7 — "Chute Hotfix" — fixed a client crash when interacting with a snow-auger mower (the chute's icon had lost its texture map). Also added compatibility for two more mods: Art of Growing (the mower now mows its grass) and Ecosystem — Flora (mows its plants and grasses through every growth stage). Each applies only when that mod is installed.
v1.5.8 — "Knobs for the Owner" — three new server-config options: toggle the snowblower's snow-throw particles, choose whether the auger piles cleared snow or just clears it, and tune (or zero out) the blade's per-cut wear. Plus a display-polish pass — fixed a plain reel mower drawing the auger and chute in-hand and in its tooltip, re-centered every item's inventory / dropped / held model on its own true center so previews sit right and finally match the hover tooltip, re-synced the loose snow-chute item to match the assembled snowblower exactly, and removed a stray old prototype item that was cluttering the creative menu. No gameplay changes unless you touch the config.
v1.5.9 — "Growing Pains" — grass & plant compatibility for three more mods: Floral Zones, Biodiversity, and Wild Farming - Revival (each applies only when installed). Art of Growing grass drops now follow its own pattern — live grass yields fresh grass, already-dry grass yields hay, and the amount scales with the grass's length. Also flipped the tool-rack display 180° so a snow-auger mower hangs flush against the wall instead of poking through it.
v1.5.10 — "Count Again" — something new gets built by hand and fitted to every mower, and we're not going to tell you what it is — but it pushes the count past 120,000 visually distinct mowers (north of 1.7 million once you count the metal you nailed it together with). Go build one and spot the difference. 👀 Fully non-breaking — every mower already in your world is untouched. Also refined Art of Growing compatibility: mowing its dry grass now leaves the very same eaten patch its own scythe does.
v1.6.0 — "Break New Ground" — the head in the frame can now be a tiller drum: seat it and the machine becomes a Push Tiller that works grassy soil down stage by stage and, with a drag blade fitted behind, lays farmland (fertility carried straight over, never barren) — ripping out grass and horsetail and mulching everything back in, keeping nothing. Tap the mode key to disengage the drum and wheel it around freely; chunky dirt clods fly as it digs. Forge the drum from the same blank (chisel top-left), craft the drag blade from 3 metal rods + 5 copper, and grind both back to sharp on a Grinding Wheel like the reel and auger. Renders spinning on the cart, placed, and in-hand; full hover prompts, handbook, and assembly guide. Non-breaking — every existing mower and snowblower is untouched.
v1.6.1 — "Groundskeeping"
- **Fixed recipe errors in the log.** The head- and drag-blade **repair** recipes used a metal wildcard that tried to generate a variant for every metal in the game — including the many those parts don't come in — so each world load printed a stack of harmless-but-noisy recipe errors. The repair recipes and the drag-blade crafting recipe are now written out explicitly for the seven metals those parts actually support, so the log stays clean. The recipes themselves are unchanged — same ingredients, same results. (Thanks to Vulkanic_J for the report.)
- **The assembly hammer now wears while you build.** Hammering the shaft onto the frame took no durability before — it does its share of tool wear now, ticking down across the three swings like any other hammer job.
- **Push Tiller sits flush on the Dowels rack.** Its drag blade poked back through the wall on display; the tiller is now flipped 180° on the mod's own Dowels rack so it hangs flush — the same fix the snowblower's chute already got. Only affects the Dowels rack; vanilla tool racks are unchanged.
- **The drag blade wears on its own track now.** It used to ride along on the drum's durability; it keeps its **own** durability now, separate from the drum, draining one point per tile it flips to farmland. Worn out, the **drum keeps breaking ground** stage by stage — no farmland trails behind until you re-sharpen the blade, so a spent drag blade never silently stops the whole machine. The deployed Push Tiller shows **both** numbers on look (drum and drag blade), and pulling the blade off returns it at its true remaining wear — no free reset by refitting. Sharpen it on a Grinding Wheel like the drum, or re-forge it in the grid.
- **Non-breaking.** Any drag blade already fitted to a tiller from 1.6.0 simply starts its independent durability at full. Requires Cartwright's Caravan (unchanged). Vintage Story 1.22+.
