TEST.jar
Unstable test version of 1.8.9 — active bugs and anomalies present.
Quick answer
Which TEST.jar release matches 1.20.1 Forge?
TEST.jar is a complete pack release for 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.0. Install it as its own launcher instance. If the creator publishes a separate server file, make sure it names this exact pack release. 17 mods in this pack file.
Pack setup
How should I set up TEST.jar for players and a server?
Use TEST.jar as the pack version. Install the pack as its own launcher instance. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file, so check the release notes before setting up a dedicated server. Do not upload the ordinary client folder blindly.
A pack is a matched client and server setup, not one mod with an install-side label. Keep its release, loader, manifest and overrides together.
These numbers come from the pack file you chose. “Not labelled” means we don’t know which side it belongs on—not that it is safe everywhere. The file count is not a RAM estimate.
What are the server requirements for TEST.jar?
TEST.jar on 1.20.1 Forge. The pack contents and setup notes below stay tied to that release.
The selected pack release is TEST.jar. That file is for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.0. It contains 17 mod projects. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file. Check their notes before using one, and do not upload an ordinary client folder or rebuild the pack mod by mod. A file count cannot tell us the right RAM, CPU or storage; size the server for the players and world you actually run.
About this project
What kind of pack is TEST.jar?
⚠️ Important: All resource packs must be enabled in reverse order (from bottom to top) before playing. If not, this version may not function properly.
Minecraft: Java Edition 1.8.9 was released on December 9, 2015, and is compatible with servers running versions 1.8 to 1.8.8. Despite having fewer features and no longer being officially supported (similar to Java Edition 1.7.10), it remains popular among minigame players and plugin servers. This continued use is largely due to widespread dislike of the Combat Update (1.9), which significantly changed PvP mechanics, and the relative instability of newer versions.
This was the last release to be compatible with a previous server version until 1.16.5. It also marked the final version released during the snapshot process of the next major update—until 1.16.5—and came out on the same day as snapshot 15w50a. It was the last version to feature Twitch integration services and the Super Secret Settings option. Interestingly, 1.8.9 also holds the record for the longest wait for a minor update to Java Edition, with 134 days having passed since 1.8.8 (released July 28, 2015).
"You are currently running a lesser-known, unstable test version of 1.8.9 that was never officially released. It is said to contain strange bugs and odd behaviors—some players have claimed to notice inexplicable sightings and eerie patterns, though nothing has ever been proven. The version is reportedly so glitched and corrupted that, under certain conditions, it appears to merge with elements from Minecraft 1.20.1, creating impossible combinations of blocks, menus, and sounds that should not coexist."
