Quick answer

Which Firmament Ages release should I use?

Updated today

We could not find enough file information to pick a stable Minecraft setup for Firmament Ages.

Pack setup

How should I set up Firmament Ages for players and a server?

Install the pack as its own launcher instance. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file, so check the release notes before setting up a dedicated server. Do not upload the ordinary client folder blindly.

Client instance Install a matching release
Dedicated server setup Match the client release
Pack loader No loader listed

A pack is a matched client and server setup, not one mod with an install-side label. Keep its release, loader, manifest and overrides together.

What are the server requirements for Firmament Ages?

Choose a release before relying on this list.

We could not pick a stable Firmament Ages release here. We could not safely count the mods in this release. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file. Check their notes before using one, and do not upload an ordinary client folder or rebuild the pack mod by mod. A file count cannot tell us the right RAM, CPU or storage; size the server for the players and world you actually run.

About this project

What kind of pack is Firmament Ages?

Firmament Ages

You wake with nothing in your hands under a sky that watches. Ten Ages lie ahead, and your whole server climbs them together.

Firmament Ages is a co-op progression pack for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. Each Age is a world of its own: what belongs to a later Age does not exist yet, not in your inventory, not in the ground, not in any menu. When your team has earned the Age's offering and lays it on the shrine, the next Age opens for everyone at once.

What it feels like

  • Earned, not given. Dawn is a rock, a stick and some straw. The last Age is a reactor and a gate to somewhere else. Plan on well over a hundred hours.
  • One fellowship. One team per server, one shrine, one last fight you face together.
  • Nothing told in advance. No recipe viewer in the early Ages, no map, no pop-ups that explain. You learn by doing and by looking.
  • A world that keeps living. Seasons and climate, birds and wind, stars that fall, nights that get worse with every Age, ruins that hold only what your Age can use.
  • Build along the way. A large building set in every wood and stone, unlocked Age by Age.
  • One guide. The Chronicle (K) says what to do and rarely why, and pays real items for it. Technology is the main road; magic is a side road and never required.

TerraFirmaCraft gives the world, the climate and the first metals. Create carries the middle Ages; Immersive Engineering, Mekanism and Applied Energistics 2 the late ones; Ad Astra and Draconic Evolution the end. Occultism, Ars Nouveau and Theurgy are the magic road. 273 mods in all; the credits at the bottom name each one.

The shrine

How an Age ends (click to open)

You build the shrine yourself, one ring per Age, from a circle of cobblestone and thatch up to a ring of quantum casings. Lay the Age's offering on the plinth, fulfil the rite and pray together. The sky answers: the ring turns to consecrated stone, a blessing settles around the shrine, the offering stays behind as a relic, and the next Age is open for everyone.

In the Singularity Age the nine relics are fused into one heart, and the heart opens a gate. Beyond it lies The Origin, islands made from the stone of every Age, and what waits there.

Stuck? The walkthrough goes through every Age: the way, the ring, the pitfalls.

Install

  • Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.252, Java 21. The CurseForge App sets up NeoForge and Java; the first start takes a few minutes.
  • RAM: 8 GB for the game, set in the CurseForge App under Settings → Minecraft → Java Settings. 4 GB is not enough. 16 GB in the PC is the practical minimum.
  • Server: a ready-to-run server pack comes with every release as an additional file; its README covers memory and pregeneration.
  • Multiplayer: every player joins the server's one team at the first login. Single player works too, as a team of one.

Version 1.0

The whole road from Dawn to The Origin and its final boss is finished and checked end to end. Draconic Evolution and Stargate Journey are beta mods on 1.21.1, so back up your world before the Space Age. Bugs go to the issue tracker.

Shaders

Firmament Ages starts with shaders turned on. It uses Complementary Shaders – Reimagined (r5.9.3) by EminGT and Complementary Development, unmodified and installed through CurseForge's own system (complementary.dev, CurseForge). Any problem caused by using it in this modpack is the modpack's responsibility, so please report it here and not to Complementary. For weaker PCs the pack includes MakeUp – Ultra Fast by XavierFST (LGPL-3.0); press O in game to switch shader packs or turn shaders off. Shaders switch off by themselves on Ad Astra planets and in The Origin.
