Wayfarers Odyssey

Wayfarer's Odyssey

A boss-driven fantasy adventure modpack for Minecraft Forge 1.20.1. Walk out from your spawn point, climb through 90 bosses told by a single quest book, and end the Frozen Dominion. Over 250 mods, no industrial tech, and a survival layer that keeps the road dangerous.

What is this pack?

Wayfarer's Odyssey is built around one idea: the further you travel, the stronger the world gets, and every boss is a milestone.

There is no tech tree to climb and no factory to build. You gather gear, learn spells, cross dimensions, and defeat bosses in the order the quest book lays out.

Highlights

90 bosses, one quest book

• FTB Quests guides you through three acts and a final chapter, "The Ice Finale", with every boss from the installed mods registered and ordered by difficulty.
• The Ender Dragon is an early goal. The Wither comes soon after. The Nightwarden closes Act III, and Velkhar, the Hollow Sovereign (Frozen Dominion) ends the whole journey.
• Every boss quest pays out a weapon to choose, a full armor set to choose, and a random piece of gear. Rewards grow with each act, from iron-tier weapons to dragonsteel, cursium, ignitium and more.
• A "boss credit" script completes the quest even for bosses whose death cutscenes would normally skip the kill.

Enemy levels

• Enemies get a level based on how far you are from the world spawn: +1 level per 200 blocks in the Overworld, per 100 in the Nether, per 50 in the End. Inside 200 blocks, everything is level 1.
• Bosses start at a base level set by their place in the quest order, then add the distance levels on top.
• Each level adds +5% HP, +1% attack, +3% movement speed and +5% attack speed. The level shows above every enemy.
• The Ender Dragon has been given extra HP and damage.
• In cold biomes, the Ice Aurochs very rarely roams as a mini-boss, a prelude to the Ice Finale.

Survival that matters

• Stamina bar and temperature / thirst (Tough As Nails), plus seasons (Serene Seasons).
• Armor changes your stamina: some sets raise your maximum, some speed up recovery, heavy ones cost you. Higher tiers push those effects further.
• Keep Inventory is on by default, and tools only lose durability when you die.
• JourneyMap is the only map. You can teleport to your death point once, and nowhere else.

A world worth walking

• Terralith + Tectonic terrain, Nullscape for the End, and a large set of structures: YUNG's suite, Dungeons Arise, Dungeons and Taverns, Epic Structures, ChoiceTheorem's Overhauled Village and more.
• Dimensions to explore: Aerial Hell, Blue Skies, the Undergarden, the Bumblezone, Aquamirae's Maelstrom, Grim and Bleak, and the Deeper Darker Otherside.

Gear, magic and bosses from many mods

Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks, Ars Nouveau, Botania, Tinkers' Construct, Apotheosis, Simply Swords, Spartan Weaponry, Better Combat, Cataclysm, Ice and Fire, Mowzie's Mobs, Alex's Mobs and Caves, Terramity, TravelOptics, Enigmatic Legacy, Artifacts, Relics, Curios, Sophisticated Backpacks and Storage, and many more.

Japanese-first, four languages

The pack is translated into Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese and Korean. The quest book, the title screen, and a large number of item names and tooltips are localized. Japanese is the default.

Fantasy title screen

A custom FancyMenu title screen sets the tone before you load in.

Recommended setup

Minecraft	1.20.1
Forge	47.4.10
RAM	8 GB minimum, 12 GB recommended
Java	Use the one bundled with the CurseForge launcher

For a smoother game, keep render distance at 8 or lower and simulation distance at 6. The pack ships with that set.

Notes

• The first launch takes a few minutes while the structure and biome mods build their data.
• Some boss locations differ per world. Use /locate structure <id> or the in-game mod guides (Patchouli books, JEI) to find them.
• This pack is built for singleplayer first. Multiplayer is untested.
