What kind of pack is Worldly Galaxies 4 | Multiplayer Questing Modpack (1200+ QUESTS)?

Current Version: v4.20 || Released: August 20, 2024 | Development Currently On Hiatus.

Made by the players, for the players, Worldly Galaxies is a multi-pronged, years-long project from Seren Santiago (fka Aurora). Adding on a couple of long-time friends and members of Team Füse, this pack has come together with the collective ideas of a group of passionate creators, and an amazing community that has played the previous versions of the pack. Evolving more and more over time, the fourth iteration is the biggest version of the modpack to date. After taking a break from having quests in the third iteration, they are back in the newest version, and bigger than ever. Boasting over twelve hundred quests, there are quests ranging from the easiest of tasks to the most difficult of changes for mods such as Botania, Blood Magic, Draconic Evolution, Mystical Agriculture, and more. There are plans to add more in a series of post-launch content updates, which can be seen in the roadmap being released alongside the pack's launch version.

The questing system in Version 4 is meant to be one that guides you rather than forcing you into a certain set of decisions. The quest lines have been written with that in mind, and function in one of three ways:

  • Beginner's Tutorial: Guiding you through the beginning of a mod's progression and then cutting you loose to do your own thing at a certain point.
  • Immersive: Guiding you through an entire mod with milestone quests to get you to the end of a mod's progression. Typically reserved for more in-depth mods.
  • Challenges: Mostly optional quests that are either just the right amount of crazy, or absolute insanity.

This version focuses on both the essential mods, as well as mods you may not be as familiar with. Some of the mods players can look forward to in Version 4.0:

  • Tech: Thermal Expansion, Mekanism, Ad Astra, Ender IO, Modular Powersuits
  • Magic: Botania, Blood Magic, Occultism, Forbidden & Arcanus
  • Exploration: Buzzier Bees, The Aether, Incendium, Nullscape, Terralith

The mods listed there are only a small fraction of what are in the pack, which boasts over three-hundred mods in its content-filled launch version.

Feel free to add mods you may want to play around with that are not in the modpack already. However, if you do that and there are issues, we will be unable to help with diagnosing them.

  • Is There A Public Server? Will There Ever Be A Public Server? No. There is not currently a public server for Worldly Galaxies 4, and there are no plans for one. We decided to forego that idea with this version of the pack as its heavily focused on quests, and it works better in a smaller environment where you can play solo, or get together with your friends to play it in co-op on either an Essential world or a custom private server.

  • Can You Add X Mod? Can You Change X Recipe? Potentially! Join our Discord server and post your suggestion for a mod addition, quest or questline addition, or recipe change in the specially made #wg4-suggestions channel, and we will take a look at potentially adding it.

  • Where Do I Report Bugs / Crashes? Good question! In an effort to keep everything clean & tidy and in one place, we have a channel in the official Discord server for bug & crash reports. Join that, grab your roles, and post your bug report (with logs, please!) in the #wg4-bugs channel. If we can fix it, we certainly will! If not, we will direct you to the right place so you can get it fixed.

  • Where Can I Go To See Changelogs Or Additions? We have a GitHub repository for that, which can be found by clicking on the place in this answer that says "GitHub repository".

  • Will There Be Server Files? Yes! We will have server files for every major release (4.00.0, 4.10.0, etc.) alongside their release to help you in creation of private servers.

Hi there! My name is Seren Santiago, and I am the lead developer of the brand new fourth iteration of Worldly Galaxies, which released July 6, 2024. Version 4 runs on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge as its chosen mod loader, and features a full-fledged quest system featuring a bunch of chapters that include quests for your favorite mods. It is our deepest and most expansive version of the pack yet, and builds upon mechanics introduced in earlier iterations. This version also features full multiplayer support with server files on day one, allowing you to create your own servers using the accompanying server files. It also includes the Essential mod, so you can create local servers with ease to play with your friends, akin to Minecraft's Bedrock Edition.

Worldly Galaxies is a modpack quadrilogy that was started on Minecraft 1.7.10, and built upon over months of continuous quest additions and improvements. The newest version, releasing July 6, 2024 for Minecraft 1.20.1 aims to continue that legacy with the same update structure. After a massive meltdown from an unmanned fission reactor, the world has been completely changed from a once lush place filled with buildings and farms, to a barren wasteland of ruins and villages, ready to be built upon again by a new generation. It is up to you what you do in this new land, and you have your quest book to guide you.
