Quick answer

Which Steam Engineering 2 release should I use?

Updated 7 years ago
Latest stable file Steam Engineering 2-1.1.zip
Game version 1.12.2
Loader Forge 14.23.5.2815

Steam Engineering 2-1.1.zip is a complete pack release for 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2815. Install it as its own launcher instance. If the creator publishes a separate server file, make sure it names this exact pack release. 64 mods in this pack file.

Pack setup

How should I set up Steam Engineering 2 for players and a server?

Use Steam Engineering 2-1.1.zip as the pack version. Install the pack as its own launcher instance. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file, so check the release notes before setting up a dedicated server. Do not upload the ordinary client folder blindly.

Client instance Install Steam Engineering 2-1.1.zip
Dedicated server setup Match Steam Engineering 2-1.1.zip
Pack loader Forge 14.23.5.2815

A pack is a matched client and server setup, not one mod with an install-side label. Keep its release, loader, manifest and overrides together.

Referenced mods 64
Client only 0
Server only 0
Not labelled 64

These numbers come from the pack file you chose. “Not labelled” means we don’t know which side it belongs on—not that it is safe everywhere. The file count is not a RAM estimate.

What are the server requirements for Steam Engineering 2?

Steam Engineering 2-1.1.zip. Change the pack release and its contents or setup may change too.

64 mods in this pack file

The selected pack release is Steam Engineering 2-1.1.zip. That file is for Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2815. It contains 64 mod projects. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file. Check their notes before using one, and do not upload an ordinary client folder or rebuild the pack mod by mod. A file count cannot tell us the right RAM, CPU or storage; size the server for the players and world you actually run.

About this project

What kind of pack is Steam Engineering 2?

Steam Engineering 2 is the sequel to Steam Engineering for Minecraft 1.7.10, also created by me.

So, how will your story play out?

Will you explore the world in your airship, stopping only to get resources and raid the ancient crypts of a long forgotten steam civilization?

Or will you build giant factories, with smokestacks and steam exhaust filling the skies above?

Perhaps you will start a diesel revolution, using fuels locked deep in the earth to power giant excavating machines...

The choice is yours.

Steam Engineering 2 is built around the theme of steampunk and dieselpunk. It has several returning tech mods from the original Steam Engineering, such as Magneticraft and Immersive Engineering. But it has some new mods making an appearance, such as Steamworld and Viescraft.

The main balance of the pack is tech and automation, and with the mods included, the player has several different routes they can take for full automation of resources, as well as decorative mods to create the perfect build to house all the automation, such as Chisel, Chisels and Bits, and Flat Colored Blocks.

47MarkIV has been kind enough to help test the pack, see what all is possible in his series!
