Quick answer
Which Dragon Wars release should I use?
Dragon Wars 1.7.17 is a complete pack release for 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2855. Install it as its own launcher instance. If the creator publishes a separate server file, make sure it names this exact pack release. 103 mods in this pack file.
Pack setup
How should I set up Dragon Wars for players and a server?
Use Dragon Wars 1.7.17 as the pack version. Install the pack as its own launcher instance. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file, so check the release notes before setting up a dedicated server. Do not upload the ordinary client folder blindly.
A pack is a matched client and server setup, not one mod with an install-side label. Keep its release, loader, manifest and overrides together.
These numbers come from the pack file you chose. “Not labelled” means we don’t know which side it belongs on—not that it is safe everywhere. The file count is not a RAM estimate.
What are the server requirements for Dragon Wars?
Dragon Wars 1.7.17. Change the pack release and its contents or setup may change too.
The selected pack release is Dragon Wars 1.7.17. That file is for Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2855. It contains 103 mod projects. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file. Check their notes before using one, and do not upload an ordinary client folder or rebuild the pack mod by mod. A file count cannot tell us the right RAM, CPU or storage; size the server for the players and world you actually run.
About this project
What kind of pack is Dragon Wars?
If you're looking for your own server to play with friends use my promo code dragonwars for 25% off your first month of an affordable server from Bisect Hosting! At least 4gb of ram for forge servers is recommended.
Click the image below to get a server.
This is my first modpack and it was created to provide a different kind of challenge than most of the modpacks I've played in the past couple of years. It's aim is to provide challenge through pure combat and less tedious base management or resource management. Loot is all that really matters in the beginning and through the end game as well. There is also high tier craftable gear, (dragonsteel). I have spent a lot of time testing and editing configs to provide as diverse and non repetitive gameplay as possible with my current abilities, however i'm always willing to learn and welcome any and all feedback.
Specs and recommendations:
Should work with any low end computers just lower the graphics and get optifine if you need to just remember to turn off fast render so no black screen will come up
I had a lot of lag issues with modpacks in general until I dedicated more ram to minecraft which you can google how to do. I use 6gigs for this pack in the beginning, but as your world gets bigger you may want to allocate more. Also I'm not sure if it's just me but the minecraft launcher in twitch keeps resetting to 3gigs every time I launch it so if you still have that periodic lag spike of death check that.

Features:
Realistic world gen with better continent and island formation, as well as climate transitions using the geographicraft mod.
Locked items behind reskillable skill requirements
Passive skills levelup with Levelup! mod. reskillable spends levels while levelup! grants skill points every time you reach a higher level than you've been before
Over 2000 unique landmarks, dungeons, ruins, towns, castles, and structures (Just in the overworld).
Dragons that ruin your day and base.

What I like to call a hardcore-ish experience:
- no hp regen
- increasing difficulty over time adding to the stats of mobs around you.
- the vanilla mobs are now incredibly rude with rough mobs.
- Every 10 days is an invasion night on your 7th day will be the first one. also bloodmoons.
- Some mobs may become infernal or champions.
- spawners now spawn a limited amount of mobs but they spawn almost all at once.
- An ever-expanding quest book. Also baileys daily's in villages. With a bunch of hand crafted bounties and rewards.
- Ancient warfare and minecolonies allow you to make your own civilization if you so wish. You can make farmers and miners to automate resource gathering, and a courier to bring resources too and from containers. There is also a warehouse system which is similiar to applied energistics. Just keep the soldiers away from pets they don't like em.
- Explore the twilight forest and the betweenlands two of the best dimensional mods out there.
- Tons of new creatures from grimoire of gaia, dungeon mobs reborn, mowzies mobs, and ice and fire.
- ebwizardry adds over 100 spells with more from the twilight spell package, and ancient spellcraft bringing it up to more like 200-250.

- hundreds of weapons, tools, armour, and baubles. also megaloot adds borderlands style randomly generated equipment.

- Dragon Eggs can be found in underground dragon dens after killing a dragon that is much larger than the ones seen on the surface, only females will drop eggs.

the vanilla bosses will get harder the more you kill them thanks to progressive bosses, they also have new abilities.
more enchantments
seasonal changes.
xp from havesting.
waystones for fast traveling, they buildable and appear in villages naturally.
tombstone so u don't rage quit.
map the world with either antique atlas or bibliocraft atlas.
sleeping bags.
Utility Mods:
- press f4 for light level overlay.
- Multimine lets you continue mining a block even if u stop mining for a second.
- neat shows mob hp, name, and armour.
- treecapitator
- holding shift and right clicking a container will let you move it without having to take everything out, as well as picking up animals and strangely ancient warfare npcs. Although I recommend moving that control to something else its kind of annoying when you try to open a baby dragon's inventory with shift right click and end up picking it up.
- hwyla shows what yer looking at.
