Introduction

Content Overview

BRE - Block Railway Engineering is a modpack focused on enhancing the creative building experience for subways, light rails, railways, and other rail transit systems, as well as roads and urban architecture. It enables players to construct modern cities and a wide variety of rail transit systems.

The modpack is built upon various railway mods (such as MTR - Minecraft Transit Railway, Create, and IR - Immersive Railroading) and their add-ons as the foundation for rail transit and railway construction. On top of that, it adds more building expansion mods to enrich the selection of building materials. Several building assistance mods and information display mods are also included to enhance building convenience. In terms of optimization, mods are added to improve game loading, world entry/exit, and chunk loading speeds; client-side rendering optimization, block culling, and lighting optimization mods are used to boost overall frame rates; and memory optimization mods help reduce memory usage and lower the probability of memory or VRAM leaks. Additionally, some simple yet effective miscellaneous mods are included, resolving many minor but annoying issues.

Feature Highlights

1. Realistic rail transit systems: Built on popular railway mods, offering high realism and dofs, with automated operation and a fully functional signalling system. It also includes features such as automatic platform screen doors, ticket gates, passenger information displays, and overhead catenary systems.
2. Rich selection of building materials: Adds a large variety of vanilla block variants, modern lighting fixtures, urban construction decorative blocks, and road decoration blocks.
3. Strong extensibility: The modpack can serve as a foundation that players can freely modify according to their own building needs. The author will provide compatibility support for modifiers within reasonable limits.
4. Excellent performance optimization: Uses various optimization mods to improve performance in areas such as rendering, memory usage, chunk loading, multiplayer networking, logic processing, and game loading.
5. Multiplayer experience: Includes mods that optimize multiplayer settings and network connections.
6. Carefully curated mods: Specifically selects mods that fit the pack's theme, ensuring every mod is useful and beneficial to the player. Avoids adding mods that are almost entirely irrelevant to rail transit and city building, such as JEI - Just Enough Items or Farmer's Delight, striving to make this pack distinct from typical adventure packs or building/tech packs. Certain mods are also carefully configured to ensure seamless integration.
7. Made for city and rail transit builders: To enhance the building experience, all particles and some screen effects are disabled by default, and mob spawning is disabled by default (full version only). These changes can be turned off.

Edition Classification

The modpack currently has three major editions: Full-contents Edition, IR-Only Edition, and Fly Edition.

Full-contents Edition

Brief Description

The Full-contents Edition is the most content-rich edition of the modpack. It implements in-game management of DLC mod content through the DLC Manager mod, integrating optional helper mods, a large number of building material mods, and railway-related mods (MTR and Create base mods and their add-ons) into the DLC Manager's UI for players to freely enable or disable. Each DLC mod comes with a detailed text description, a convenient open link pointing to the mod's distribution platform (CurseForge or Modrinth) accessible by double-clicking the mod's display name, detailed conflict and dependency information, as well as performance impact and memory usage warnings. The manager UI also includes several content presets, including three tiered presets for different amounts of building materials and two content suite presets for railway mods.

Specific Content: Base Pack

The base pack of the Full-contents Edition is designed to be compatible with the base pack of Blockitecture. It includes various basic optimization mods, various helper mods, and the most fundamental building tool mods (WE - WorldEdit), with no content mods — it is completely vanilla.

Specific Content: DLC Contents

DLC Mod Content:

The DLC add-on content for the Full-contents Edition is streamlined from the DLC add-on content of Blockitecture, removing mod content sections that are less relevant to railway construction, such as traditional building materials, vanilla-style furniture, and painting expansions.

DLC Presets:

The built-in building material tier presets on the manager UI provide a quick way to enable mod content. From lowest to highest performance requirements, they are: Lite, Standard, and Architect. The content suite presets for railway mods are MTR and Create Railway.

DLC Packs:

Some DLC mod content in the Full-contents Edition is not built-in and is loaded in the form of DLC Packs. The installation steps are as follows:

1. On the main menu, click the "P" button to the right of the "DLC Manager" button to open the DLC Pack loading interface.
2. Click the leftmost button among the bottom buttons, "Import DLC Pack". In the file dialog that appears, select the DLC Pack to be installed and confirm the import.
3. After importing, select the desired pack and click the "Install" button. After "Install*" is displayed, click "Apply" among the bottom buttons to apply the changes, then restart as prompted.
4. Restart the game. On the main menu, click "DLC Manager" to open the manager. If the relevant mods from the pack are listed, the pack has been successfully loaded.

Note: The version under Download Link 3 is a no-download version, where most assets are locally hosted except for those restricted by redistribution licenses. This greatly reduces the time spent on secondary downloads when installing the modpack. It is recommended for players with poor network conditions (those who cannot stably connect to CurseForge and Modrinth) to prioritize the no-download version. The no-download version can be obtained from Quark Pan or the modpack's community group files.

IR-Only Edition

Brief Description (1.12.2)

This edition of the IR-Only Edition is built around IR - Immersive Railroading and LittleTiles as its core mods, and includes various basic optimization mods, various helper mods, and building tool mods (WE - WorldEdit and Effortless Building).

Brief Description (1.20.1)

This edition of the IR-Only Edition is modified from the Full-contents Edition, removing the MTR mod content section from the DLC contents and replacing it with the Immersive Railroading mod content section, eliminating the need to install the Immersive Railroading DLC Pack. The rest of this edition is identical to the Full-contents Edition. For details, please refer to the Full-contents Edition description sections above.

Bug reports and feedback are only accepted for the latest version of the modpack. If you encounter issues while using an outdated version, please update the modpack to the latest version first.
