Quick answer

Which Foundation release should I use?

Updated 2 years ago
Latest stable file Foundation 1.21-1
Game version 1.21
Loader Fabric 0.15.11

Foundation 1.21-1 is a complete pack release for 1.21 with Fabric 0.15.11. Install it as its own launcher instance. If the creator publishes a separate server file, make sure it names this exact pack release. 44 mods in this pack file.

Pack setup

How should I set up Foundation for players and a server?

Use Foundation 1.21-1 as the pack version. Install the pack as its own launcher instance. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file, so check the release notes before setting up a dedicated server. Do not upload the ordinary client folder blindly.

Client instance Install Foundation 1.21-1
Dedicated server setup Match Foundation 1.21-1
Pack loader Fabric 0.15.11

A pack is a matched client and server setup, not one mod with an install-side label. Keep its release, loader, manifest and overrides together.

Referenced mods 44
Client only 25
Server only 0
Not labelled 19

These numbers come from the pack file you chose. “Not labelled” means we don’t know which side it belongs on—not that it is safe everywhere. The file count is not a RAM estimate.

What are the server requirements for Foundation?

Foundation 1.21-1. Change the pack release and its contents or setup may change too.

44 mods in this pack file

The selected pack release is Foundation 1.21-1. That file is for Minecraft 1.21 with Fabric 0.15.11. It contains 44 mod projects. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file. Check their notes before using one, and do not upload an ordinary client folder or rebuild the pack mod by mod. A file count cannot tell us the right RAM, CPU or storage; size the server for the players and world you actually run.

What kind of pack is Foundation?

Foundation

Include a lot of QOL and optimization mods.

"Element Stack"

Shaders and Resource Packs

Modpack come with Iris mod and some great Shader Packs. The shader is disabled by default, you need to enable it manully in Options->Video Settings->Shader Packs.

If you are a Redstone player, you definitely want to enable the XeKr's Redstone Display resource pack which gives you a lot of extra information like the status of a block, the power level of redstone dust and so on.

Shader are enabled by default

"MASA Stack"

Althought MASA mods like Litematica MiniHUD Tweakeroo and etc have not beed update to 1.20 yet. So the community compiled version of those mods have been added and provide you with the same functions as you expected. Also some extra mods based on "MASA Stack" have been added too.

Enabled tweaks by default:

  • Map Preview
  • Inventory Preview (ALT or Option key)
  • Shulker Box Preview

Tips 1: Some of the functions of MASA Stack mods require Carpet mod to work on your server if you want to play in multiplayer.

Tips 2: Because of key conflict, some key bindings have been changed. You can go to Options->Controls->Key Bind to check it out. Note that the MASA Stack mods' key bind are not listed. The default key to open the world map has been changed to G.
