Quick answer

Which ControllerCraft release should I use?

Updated 2 years ago
Latest stable file ControllerCraft 1.20.1-1.1 (Forge)
Game version 1.20.1
Loader Forge

ControllerCraft 1.20.1-1.1 (Forge) is a complete pack release for 1.20.1 with Forge. Install it as its own launcher instance. If the creator publishes a separate server file, make sure it names this exact pack release. Could not safely read this pack file.

Pack setup

How should I set up ControllerCraft for players and a server?

Use ControllerCraft 1.20.1-1.1 (Forge) as the pack version. Install the pack as its own launcher instance. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file, so check the release notes before setting up a dedicated server. Do not upload the ordinary client folder blindly.

Client instance Install ControllerCraft 1.20.1-1.1 (Forge)
Dedicated server setup Match ControllerCraft 1.20.1-1.1 (Forge)
Pack loader Forge

A pack is a matched client and server setup, not one mod with an install-side label. Keep its release, loader, manifest and overrides together.

What are the server requirements for ControllerCraft?

ControllerCraft 1.20.1-1.1 (Forge). Change the pack release and its contents or setup may change too.

Could not safely read this pack file

The selected pack release is ControllerCraft 1.20.1-1.1 (Forge). That file is for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge. We could not safely count the mods in this release. The creator’s listing does not name a separate server file. Check their notes before using one, and do not upload an ordinary client folder or rebuild the pack mod by mod. A file count cannot tell us the right RAM, CPU or storage; size the server for the players and world you actually run.

About this project

What kind of pack is ControllerCraft?

I see a lot of steam deck/controller minecraft modpacks, but none of them just included the needed stuff (they usually add optimizations, or other stuff.) This modpack just gives the bare minimum needed to run Minecraft on the steam deck, or any controller to be fair. Because of this minimal structure, you can add other mods to this pack and they should work fine.

So far, the only mods that are included are:

Fabric API - Needed as a core API for many fabric mods, including MidnightControls.

MidnightControls - Adds built-in controller support to Minecraft

No Chat Reports - Strips cryptographic signatures from your chat messages. (Read the Reasoning section HERE: https://github.com/Aizistral-Studios/No-Chat-Reports at the very bottom of the README.)

FAQ:

Q: Why not use Quilt/Is this modpack compatible with Quilt?

A: I am more used to Fabric, and Quilt is still in a beta compared to Fabric, so I picked Fabric for stability, and also because mostly everything works on Fabric. However, This modpack can run perfectly fine on Quilt, so in theory, yes. This modpack is compatible with Quilt.

Q: Can you add [Insert Optimization or QOL mod here]

A: Read the description and/or summary. This mod only includes the BARE minimal to have a good experience with controllers in Minecraft. Not a general good experience in Minecraft.

Q: Forge version?

A: Yes! I have decided to use a different mod(s) for controller support on forge!
