FreezeTag

Emerald_Armour's Freeze Tag is a complete Freeze Tag minigame for Minecraft. It features a custom world, datapack, and resource pack originally created for JeromeASF.

Inspired by the classic playground game, runners must survive until the timer runs out. Taggers work together to freeze every remaining runner. Frozen players can be rescued by their teammates, which encourages teamwork, strategy, and clutch saves in every round. With multiple maps, adjustable settings, powerups, and different game modes, each match offers a unique experience.

Everything you need to play is included in this download: the custom world, datapack, and resource pack. Whether you're hosting a private server with friends or recording content, the pack is designed for quick setup and ready-to-play action.

• Automatic random map selection.

• Players can vote for a specific map or choose a random one.

• OPs can enable or disable map voting.

• OPs can manually select the next map at any time.

• Two game modes:

  • Classic Freeze Tag
  • Infection Mode (starts with a maximum of one tagger who infects runners as they’re frozen).

• Team balancing ensures at least one runner and one tagger are always present.

• Optional random team selection with no limit on taggers, meaning every player except one can become a tagger.

• Configurable gameplay settings for OPs.

• Safe respawning and late joining by placing players into Spectator Mode until the next round.

• Designed for multiplayer and works best with larger groups, especially when most players are on the runner team.

Powerups

Runner Powerups

• Speed – Gain a burst of movement speed.
• Blindness – Temporarily blinds all taggers.
• Second Life – Revive after being frozen once.
• Unfreeze All – Instantly free every frozen teammate.

Tagger Powerups

• Speed – Gain a burst of movement speed.
• Blindness – Temporarily blinds all runners.
• Freeze Bomb – Freeze multiple nearby runners at once.
• Player Shuffle – Randomly swaps players' positions.
• Frost Turret – Deploy a turret that automatically freezes nearby runners.

Winning

Taggers win when every runner has been frozen or eliminated before time expires.

Runners win by surviving until time runs out with at least one runner still active.

Installation

Singleplayer (with Essentials)

No extraction is necessary. The world, datapack, and resource pack are already included.

Dedicated Server

Replace your existing world with the included world folder.

To ensure players automatically download the resource pack and that all paintings and cosmetics display correctly, add the following to your server.properties:

Permissions

Most gameplay commands and configuration options require OP permissions.

Voting and cosmetic hats are available to all players without OP.

Important

If you plan to modify or destroy any of the maps using explosives, custom weapons, Creative Mode, or anything similar, run the save_all function before playing to keep the world intact.
