Ancient Roots

Enter Starblight, a Hytale mod that adds a mysterious new biome, new creatures, dangerous plant enemies, biome bosses, and the beginning of a cosmic invasion.

Deep beneath the world, the roots of an ancient World Tree have broken through the earth. What was once a place of balance and life has become a dense, overgrown forest filled with giant roots, thick vines, forgotten ruins, and aggressive plants. The forest is still beautiful, but something is wrong. The harmony of this place has been disturbed.

Explore a custom biome full of massive root walls, tangled paths, hidden clearings, ancient statues, ruined structures, and strange plant life. Some creatures defend the forest with violence. Others are small, curious, and playful.

Enter the Biome by crafting an Ancient Gateway and a Ancient gateway Key to the Ancient Roots at the Workbench

The Guardian

At the heart of the Ancient Roots waits a powerful forest guardian.

Once, this being protected the balance of the biome. Now, it has been corrupted. Its roots, bark, and ancient strength have turned against the world it was meant to protect.
Prepare accordingly and head below the Roots the Worldtree to fight this mighty Foe.

The Cosmic Invasion

When the Guardian falls, the sky changes.

Cosmic Obelisks begin to appear across the biome. These alien structures corrupt the land around them, transforming natural blocks into cosmic blocks. From these corrupted areas, new cosmic enemies emerge.

The invasion spreads block by block.

If left alone, the Ancient Roots will slowly be consumed by alien energy.

Destroy the Obelisks. Fight back the corruption. Prepare for the arrival of the first Commander.

The Painted Desert

Beyond the Ancient Roots lies the Painted Desert, a vast landscape of colored sand, layered canyons, towering mesas, and strange crystal formations.

Large regions of violet, indigo, pale blue, pink, orange, yellow, and mint sand flow naturally across the terrain. These colors form broad dunes, exposed sandstone layers, deep valleys, and winding canyon walls.

The biome contains:

  • Rolling rainbow dunes
  • Layered mesas and cliffs
  • Narrow painted canyons
  • Natural sandstone arches
  • Black crystal fields and giant crystal spires
