NoDurability

Tools, weapons and armor never lose durability, modded items included. /nodurability turns it back on for any of the three and repairs everything you carry. Server-side, applied once when items load, nothing runs per tick.

About this project

What does NoDurability add?

Your best pickaxe cracks three biomes from home, and your armor gives out halfway through a fight. Every tool in Hytale is on a countdown, and it always runs out at the worst time. This mod turns the countdown off.

How it works

The older durability mods scanned every inventory on every tick, and that is what made them crash on bigger worlds. This one switches durability loss off at the source, once, when item assets load. After that nothing runs per tick and nothing watches your inventory.

  • Tools, weapons and armor never lose durability.
  • Every item in the game is covered, including ones added by other mods, because the change happens at the asset layer instead of a list of items.
  • Action costs are covered too: tilling with a hoe, the sickle, hatchet or pickaxe attacks, and Flame or Ice Crystal Staff shots. The watering can, fertilizer and other charge-based items still use their charges.
  • /nodurability opens a menu with three switches, Tools, Weapons and Armor. Untick one and that kind of item wears down like in the normal game again.
  • Repair my items, in the same menu, fills the durability of everything in your inventory and equipment. Each switch has its own Repair button for that kind of item, and Repair item in hand fixes only what you're holding. From chat it's /nodurability repair, or /nodurability repair hand, tools, weapons or armor.

Known issues

The switches apply to the whole server and not to one player, because the mod edits the item definitions themselves. The choice is saved with the server. Action costs follow the item that uses them: hoe tilling and hatchet chopping count as Tools, staff shots count as Weapons.

Install

Install it through the CurseForge app, or put the jar straight into your Mods folder. It's a jar, so there's nothing to unzip:

  • Windows: %AppData%\Hytale\UserData\Mods
  • Linux: ~/.local/share/Hytale/UserData/Mods

It's a server-side plugin. In singleplayer it works as is; on a multiplayer server, only the server needs it.

Updating from 1.1.0: the plugin ID is now com.opaaaaaaaaaaaa:NoDurability. Old worlds complain about a missing mod once; pick Disable and continue, then turn NoDurability on again under Edit World. Nothing is lost.

Uninstall

Delete the jar from your Mods folder. Durability loss comes back the next time the game loads its items, and your gear keeps the durability it has at that point.

Requirements

None. Just Hytale.

Compatibility

No conflicts with other server-side mods that I know of. Tell me in the comments if you find one.

My other mods

  • Void Chest: chests on the same channel share one inventory, anywhere in the world.
  • God Mode Menu: an in-game menu for infinite health and stamina, flight, speed and jump sliders, keep inventory on death and mobs that ignore you.
