About this project
What does Unofficial Patch add?
Unofficial Patch (UHP)
Unofficial Patch (UHP) is a collection of fixes and improvements for issues found in vanilla Hytale. It addresses problems ranging from small data and configuration errors to gameplay bugs and unfinished mechanics.
The patch fixes and improves:
- broken or missing vanilla recipes;
- incorrect block and item properties;
- issues with NPC behavior;
- exploits and strange gameplay mechanics;
- some progression issues;
- inconsistencies in combat and survival;
- minor balance issues;
- other unfinished or incorrectly functioning vanilla mechanics.
What's Already Changed
The current version includes:
- jumping and mantling now consume Stamina;
- a simple fatigue and rest system has been added;
- players now respawn with 50% health, so death can no longer be used as a free way to fully heal;
- the Forgotten Temple Guardian encounter has been reworked;
- Earth Golems no longer take damage from projectiles and can no longer drown;
- problematic aggression behavior of some NPCs has been fixed;
- missing shovel recipes have been added;
- some incorrect vanilla recipes have been fixed;
- inaccessible generated recipes have been fixed;
- incorrect
GatherTypevalues have been fixed for several blocks and decorations that previously required the wrong tool to break.
A more detailed list of changes can be found in the changelog for each version.
Forgotten Temple Guardian
The Earth Golem near the portal to Memories now serves as a proper Guardian.
The first time a player encounters the EchoGateGuardian, they must defeat it. Until then, the portal is blocked for that player.
After defeating the Guardian, the portal is unlocked for that player and they can freely use it from then on. The Guardian also remembers players who have defeated it and will no longer attack them first.
If multiple players fight the Guardian together, the victory is credited to all players who participated in the fight and dealt damage to it shortly before its death.
Compatibility
We try to keep the patch compatible with other mods wherever possible.
For example, EchoGateGuardian uses a public ID, allowing other mods to override its assets and behavior.

Bug reports, suggestions, and criticism help us understand what actually needs to be fixed and where the project should go next.
We'd also be happy to see you on our small Discord server, which is only just starting to grow. You can report problems, suggest changes, discuss the patch, or simply follow its development there.
Thank you to everyone who installs the patch, tests it, and helps us make it better.
