Man Down!

Man Down! replaces instant death with a cooperative downed state. Get rescued by a friend, flop your way toward safety with the Death Flop™, or give up and die somewhere your loot won’t become a recovery mission. Down doesn’t mean dead.

About this project

What does Man Down! add?

Man Down!

Down doesn’t mean dead.

Man Down! replaces instant death with a cooperative downed state. When lethal damage strikes, you hit the dirt instead of immediately dying, giving your friends a chance to get you back into the fight.

Or, if help isn’t coming, you can accept your fate with what little dignity you have left.

Features

Cooperative Revives
Nearby players can crouch beside a downed teammate to revive them and get them back into the fight.

Bleeding Reserves
Your remaining health becomes a visible countdown. When it runs out, so do your options.

Playing Dead
Downed players are protected from additional damage and enemies stop attacking them. Apparently lying very still has tactical value.

Reviver Wins the Race
If a teammate starts reviving you before time runs out, they get a chance to finish. Even if the clock hits zero.

The Death Flop™
Downed doesn't mean immobile. Flop toward a friend, around a corner, or somewhere marginally less embarrassing.

Tactical flopping. Dignity not included.

Give Up
No rescue coming? Hold CTRL to surrender and get on with being dead.

Safe Loot Recovery
When time expires or you Give Up, Man Down! sends you to your current home/respawn point before triggering normal death, keeping dropped loot somewhere sensible.

Last Downed Marker
Your original downed location is marked on the map so you can find your way back to whatever terrible decision caused this.

Configuration

ManDown.json lets server owners adjust:

DownedTimeSeconds = 120
GiveUpTimeSeconds = 5
ReviveTimeSeconds = 10
ReviveHealthPercent = 30
ReviveRange = 3.0

Changes take effect after restarting the server.

Permissions

Both permissions are allowed by default, so Man Down! works out of the box.

mandown.revive

Allows a player to revive other players.

mandown.be_revived

Allows a player to be revived.

Servers can deny either permission to control who can rescue or be rescued.

Compatibility

Built for Hytale 0.6.2.

Man Down! ultimately uses Hytale's normal death system, so other mods that modify death, respawning, or item drops should also be compatible with your current Hytale version.

Get downed. Get back up. Sometimes you just need a friend.
