About this project
What does Water Dousing Tools add?
ProphetScott's - 💧 Water Dousing Tools! 💦 🌊
Water your crops, put out fires, cool lava, and build yourself a little workshop along the way.
A little water, a little tinkering
This grew out of a dousing mechanic from another project I was working on. I wanted water to have more practical uses, with a magical staff for farming and a repurposed goblin flamethrower for pipes and pressure.
Tinkering became a big part of the journey: recover bronze, smelt Tree Sap into rubber, make tubes and valves, and turn those parts into useful tools. I wanted gathering and crafting to feel connected, with something worth working towards. I'm happy with the current costs, but open to rebalancing as people play.
What's inside?
- Dousing Staff: bolts, rolling waves, and a water nova. Crafted at the Farmer's Workbench at Tier 5.
- Super-Soaker: a sustained hose, a broad hydropump, and a live water gauge.
- Artificer's Worktable: assemble tools, components, and machinery. Make the table at the regular Workbench Tier 2.
- Water Purifier: a filled bucket or canister becomes 4 Water Essence in 15 minutes, returning the empty container. One Hydrocarbon Briquette fuels a batch; replacing that fuel costs 1 essence plus a Charcoal Briquette.
- Portable refills and workshop parts: carry canisters or crystals, build your machinery, and put components on display.

Getting started
Version 1.5.0 for Hytale 0.6.6. Code and assets come in one JAR; no companion mod needed. Close the game, back up your world, put the JAR in your mods folder without extracting it, and enable it for your world. When updating, replace the old JAR, keep only one version, and fully restart. Dedicated servers need Java 25.
Primary use fires; Q activates the full-charge ability. Hold secondary near source water to recharge. Matching canisters or crystals refill completely empty tools. Crouch + right-click places supported parts and reserves on display.
Water attacks don't deal direct damage, but pushing creatures off cliffs or into deep water can still be lethal. Pressure pushes NPCs, not players. Wet briefly protects against burning; lava removes that protection.

First mod, still learning

I'm a beginning modder, and this is my first mod. If you find bugs, please report them—I'm open to fixing them. Your game and mod versions, what happened, and steps to reproduce it really help.
I use AI tools as part of my creative process, and I want to be transparent about that. I came up with the concept, design philosophy, gameplay rules, and creative direction, and made the final decisions. OpenAI/Codex agents helped with code, technical problem-solving, asset preparation, checks, and documentation. AI image tools also assisted with some texture work. This is a human-directed project made with substantial AI assistance.
Credits & practical notes
This independent community mod builds on Hytale's assets and systems. Those original materials belong to their respective owners. This isn't an official or endorsed release, and its workshop backstory is my own flavor. These images are model renders; in-game lighting may differ.
You're welcome to build on my original contributions for community purposes with credit to ProphetScott. Paid distribution requires my permission. This doesn't grant rights to Hytale's assets.
Back up before removal: custom items aren't automatically converted to vanilla ones. Mods changing the same loot tables may conflict with bronze-scrap drops. Not every mod combination has been tested.
