About this project
What does HyZ add?
HyZ – Zombie Apocalypse
Turn Hytale into a survival nightmare. HyZ fills the world with zombies that hear you, hunt you, remember you and come for you in hordes. To make it through, you'll need to hide, build defenses, scavenge supplies and keep yourself fed.
Features (v0.18)
Zombies
- Four zombie types: Common, Heavy (a tank that breaks blocks), Runner (fast and fragile) and Frozen (slows you and always infects)
- Zombie-only world: hostile vanilla monsters are replaced by zombies. Wildlife stays, and this can be configured.
- Day and night spawning: more zombies by day, a lot more at night, with a peak from 23h to 3h
- Cave zombies: they lurk in the dark in every cave. A lit torch keeps them away.
- Day scaling: zombies get tougher every in-game day, and nameplates show their level
- Hordes: the first one is guaranteed on day 7. After that, hordes grow every night and surround you.
Smarter AI
- Noise: sprinting, building, sleeping and gunshots attract zombies
- Stealth: crouch to sneak past, or hide in bushes to become invisible
- Blood trails: when you're hurt, you bleed and zombies can track you
- Relentless pursuit: zombies remember you, alert each other and don't give up after a few blocks
- Zombie pyramid: groups physically climb on each other to reach you on high ground
- Door sieges: zombies break doors, and Heavies break blocks too. They respect protected areas.
Survival
- Infection: 3 punishing stages. Without the cure, you die and rise as a zombie.
- Hunger & thirst: two new HUD bars. Run low and your stamina drops; hit zero and you lose health. A starving stomach growls and attracts zombies.
- Food poisoning from raw meat and untreated river water
- Apocalypse food: canned beans, soup and meat, water bottles, energy bars and military rations
- Supply Crates: lootable boxes for abandoned buildings, full of food, medicine and materials
Defense & combat
- Spike Barricade: hurts anything that touches it. It wears down and can be repaired.
- Headshots: arrows and bullets deal critical damage to zombie heads
- Toxic Rain ☢: a green radioactive storm that burns anyone outside and makes zombies faster and stronger
- The Lab: a Centrifuge crafting station for the Infection Cure, and a Gas Mask
For server owners
- In-game admin panel (
/hyz): configure everything without touching files. That's 264 settings, plus loot and zombie drop editing with a creative-style item picker. - Server-side: players don't need to install anything
- Everything configurable through JSON or the panel
- HyGuns integration (optional): gunshots attract zombies, suppressors keep you quiet, and HyGuns headshots work on zombies
- English and Portuguese (BR) translations
Commands
/hyz: admin panel (OP orslayer.hyz.admin)/zombie spawn common|heavy|runner|frozen: spawn a zombie/zombie horda: horde status, start or stop/zombie chuva: toxic rain status, start or stop/zombie fome: hunger & thirst status and testing/zombie infect | cure | status: infection testing
Installation
- Download
HyZ-0.18.0.jar. It's a single file with the plugin and the assets together. - Remove any older HyZ version from your mods folder.
- Put the jar in your server's mods folder and start the server.
- Adjust everything in-game with
/hyz.
Compatibility
- Requires Hytale Server 0.7.0. v0.18.0 doesn't run on 0.6.x; use v0.17.x for older servers.
- HyGuns: the current HyGuns release doesn't load on Hytale 0.7.0 yet and stops the server. Run HyZ without it until HyGuns is updated. HyZ works on its own and turns the gun features back on automatically.
- Early Access API changes may require updates.
Roadmap
- Abandoned cities with Supply Crates inside
- Gas Mask protection against toxic rain
- Water purification
