About this project

What does CommandDeck add?

CommandDeck

An in-game command browser and macro builder. Open it with /deck, pick any command, fill in its form, and press Run. Save the ones you use as favorites, and chain them into macros with repeats and waits.

Every button shows the exact command line it runs, so the window teaches the commands instead of hiding them. It works with every mod as it is: whatever the server registers shows up, and mods can add a small sidecar file to describe their commands better.

Features

  • Every command in one window. Vanilla and modded commands, with search, categories, and filters for favorites, the commands you have permission for, and each description level.
  • A form for each command. One field per argument, matched to its type, with the mod's labels, help, ranges and examples where it ships a sidecar. A command the game knows only by name gets its help text and a free-text field with a history.
  • The exact line, always visible. Escaping is done for you. A value that can't be sent through the game's parser is marked and explained, never changed to fit.
  • Placeholders: {self}, {target}, {x} {y} {z} and {look}, filled in when the command runs.
  • Favorites. Star a command, and filter the list to your favorites.
  • Macros. Build them in the Macros tab from command, sequence, repeat and wait steps. Each player has their own; the server can share macros with everyone, and mods can ship presets.
  • Runs tab. Everything running now, with a Stop button for each.
  • Never freezes the game. One step per tick by default. The server owner sets the most repeats, nesting depth, run time, steps per tick and runs per player.
  • Your permissions, never the author's. Every command runs as the player who pressed the button, and the game checks it as usual. If the game refuses a step, the run stops there.
  • Dangerous commands ask first, inside macros too.
  • Logged. Every run goes to runs.log in CommandDeck's data folder.

Install

  1. Put CommandDeck-1.0.0.jar in your server's mods folder (singleplayer: %APPDATA%\Hytale\UserData\Mods\).
  2. Nothing else is needed.
  3. Type /deck.

Commands and permissions

Command What it does
/deck Opens the window
/deck run <id> Runs one of your macros, a server macro or a preset
/deck confirm Runs what's waiting for your confirmation (within 60 seconds)
/deck stop Stops your runs; /deck stop all stops everyone's (operators)
/deck list Lists what you can run, and your runs
/deck reload Reads the sidecars, macros and settings again (operators)
/deck help Shows the commands

Permissions: commanddeck.use to use it on a server (in singleplayer everyone may, by default), commanddeck.macros.edit to save your own macros, and commanddeck.operator for /deck stop all and /deck reload (the singleplayer world's owner has it). CommandDeck never grants a command: the game still checks each one.

Works with Mod Settings Manager

Mod Settings Manager is optional. With it installed, operators can change CommandDeck's settings from /modsettings: whether commands are enabled, whether everyone may use it in singleplayer, the macro limits, and how commands are sent. Every change applies live, without a restart. Without it, the settings are in mods/Hledjolf_CommandDeck/config.json.

Compatibility

  • Hytale server 0.7.4.
  • Dedicated servers and singleplayer.
  • One jar, no dependencies.
  • Macro steps in 1.0.0: command, sequence, repeat and wait. Loops on a condition and calling one macro from another are not in this version.

For mod authors

Your commands already show up. To give them labels, help, ranges, examples, a danger flag and preset buttons, ship a small sidecar file in your jar, commanddeck/commands.json.

For example, a command entry can say: name calendar set day, label Set the day, category World, danger confirm (ask before running), and one whole-number argument day from 1 to 120 with its help text. A preset can be a button named Jump to Spring that runs a few commands with a wait between them.

The sidecar is plain data. When CommandDeck isn't installed, nothing reads it, so it costs your mod nothing. The full format, its JSON schema and a complete example are in template/ on GitHub. Other mods can also run commands and macros through CommandDeck's integration API, with the same rules as a button press.

License
