About this project

What does Dragontale Drop Randomizer add?

Drop Randomizer

Break a grass block and get copper ore. Kill a cow and get sticks. Drop Randomizer shuffles the drops of common blocks and creatures. The game stays playable, just a lot less familiar.

How it works

  • Shuffled once, then fixed. On the first start the plugin rolls a new mapping and saves it. Every restart after that uses the same mapping, so your world stays consistent.
  • Nothing gets lost. The shuffle is a true swap: every original drop ends up on exactly one new source, so everything you could get before is still obtainable.
  • Progression stays intact. Drops only swap between sources from the same zone (Zone 1–4). You won't find late-game ore in starter dirt.
  • Basic materials stay easy to get. Essentials like wood, fibre, sticks, stone, dirt, copper and iron always land on common blocks (soil, stone, trunks, leaves, grass), never on rare mobs or blocks.
  • Blocks and mobs mix. Block drops can end up on creatures and the other way round. You can turn this off.
  • No game files are changed. Everything is patched in memory at startup, and the changes are re-applied after asset reloads.

Installation

  1. Put the .jar into your server's mods folder.
  2. Start the server. That's it.

The seed and the location of the lookup table are printed in the server log.

Configuration

Everything lives in mods/Dandex_DropRandomizer/:

File Purpose
DropRandomizer.json Settings (see below)
pool.json Which blocks and mobs take part, and their tier. Edit before the first start.
mapping.json The saved shuffle. Delete it (server stopped) to roll new drops.
mapping.txt Readable "who drops what now" table. ⚠️ Spoilers!

Settings in DropRandomizer.json

Option Default Description
Seed 0 Fixed seed for the shuffle. 0 = random.
KeepTiers true Only swap drops within the same zone.
MixBlocksAndMobs true Allow block drops on mobs and vice versa.
EssentialsOnBlocks true Keep essential materials on common blocks.
EssentialItems wood, fibre, sticks, stone, dirt, copper, iron Item IDs that count as essential (* wildcards allowed).
CommonBlocks soil, stone, trunks, leaves, grass, rubble… Blocks that may receive essential drops.
Excluded [] Block or drop list IDs that keep their normal drops.

Settings are only read when a new shuffle is created. To apply changes, delete mapping.json with the server stopped.
