About this project
What does Functional Pipe add?
I got tired of hauling ore from my chest to the furnace. So I made Functional Pipes.
The pipes use vanilla pipe assets and come in copper, iron, rusted iron, and gold.
What’s in my workshop?
- Item pipes move supplies between chests, furnaces, and other compatible containers.
- Liquid pipes draw liquids through Short pipe intakes and carry them to an outlet.
- A hammer lets you change a pipe’s orientation after placing it.
Where to hook them up
- Chests take connections from either side, the back, or underneath.
- Salvagers take connections from either side, underneath, or the lower half of the back.
- Furnaces take connections from underneath or along the sides or back at the lowest block layer. Leave the upper sections and chimney clear.
Keep the fronts and tops clear. Regular crafting workbenches don’t accept pipe connections.
Which way does it go?
- Most pipes carry both items and liquids. Use the same pipe pieces to move supplies between chests and compatible machines, or to route liquids.
- The Intake Pipe ( Short Pipe) is the only pipe made exclusively for liquids. It draws liquid into the line. Use a Mouthpiece or Large Corner at the other end to let it out.
- Straight pipes, corners, bulk pipes, and mouthpieces let you build around tight spaces. Mix metals in the same network.
- A hammer lets you turn a pipe after placing it. Even I get the angle wrong sometimes.
When the line clogs
A blocked outlet or a full chest can make items back up inside the pipes. If it stays blocked, you’ll see a visual warning.
Clear the outlet or make room in the chest and the line gets moving again. If you need to take it apart, breaking a pipe drops whatever items it was holding.
Compatibility
Functional Pipes 1.0.0 requires Hytale 0.8.0-pre.3 (Update 8 Pre-Release 3).
