About this project
What does Him - Herobrine add?

Him is a horror + trolling modification that will enable Herobrine to non-destructively haunt your worlds and servers. He will watch you and your friends from afar and torment you up close as soon as you start playing. You must endure, collect the necessary resources, perform the banishment ritual, and free your world.
Or, you can use commands to scare other players manually (lmao)
This is the description for version 3.0 and above. If you need to check the functionality of previous versions scroll down to the bottom and open the box under Old Description.

If you want to support me/help me to make mods better and faster, you can buy me a coffee:
Passive Haunting and Behavior
The mod adds passive haunting, where Herobrine spawns around you in a variety of ways, and commands to trigger specific apparitions manually. There are 4 apparition types that happen randomly every 3 minutes or so, and can also be triggered with commands:
- Watch - Herobrine wil spawn and watch you from afar for a while, then he will vanish.
- Scare - Herobrine will spawn right behind you and wait. Don't hit him though, that makes him angry.
- Jumpscare - Herobrine will appear in front of you, produce a cacophony of sound from the very depths of hell, and give you tunnel vision (the darkness effect).
- Spike - Spike, as in spike your cortisol levels, lulls you into a false sense of security. Herobrine will spawn a few blocks away and silently watch. You might even see him. Then he'll jump right up to your face and give you such a scare you'll get nauseated.
Chase Mode - Every so often, Herobrine will also go into a frenzy called chase mode, where apparitions will speed up considerably for a while.
Notch Apple - To banish Herobrine (or summon him again once banished), you need to craft a Notch Apple, a mythic object from old Minecraft, removed from the game at one point and now brought back as the only element strong enough to combat Herobrine. To banish Herobrine back to the void, you must burn a Notch Apple by throwing it into a netherrack fire. The apple will bring him forth and destroy his physical presence in your world, freeing you.
Tip: in older versions of the mod (before 3.0), to spawn Herobrine you used The Caller, an anomalous block crafted by surrounding a redstone torch with deepslate, and this was used to spawn Herobrine, not to banish him. Read more about the functionality of previous versions at the bottom under "Old Description".
To craft a Notch Apple, you must place an apple at the center of the crafting table. At the corners, golden nuggets. At the sides of the apple, diamond blocks. Below the apple, a dragon head. And finally, above the apple, place a nether star. It's costly, you need to beat the game and then some to obtain just one. If you decide not to banish Herobrine though, you can also eat it. It grants one hour of Strength II, Regeneration II, Fire Resistance and Absorption.
Apparitions can also be triggered individually with commands, and other aspects of the mod can be customized and monitored.
Commands
/haunt - Enables/disables spawning of Herobrine in a world
/hauntfrequency [minutes] - Herobrine will wait however many minutes you input here before spawning again. By default he spawns every 3 minutes or so (though this amount of time will randomly change, so don't get too comfortable).
Only in v3 /hauntstate - Displays whether passive haunting is turned on, set time between scares (by default it's 3 minutes), and time to next scare in seconds
/call [player] - Triggers a random type of Herobrine apparition to a random player in the world if no username is given. If it is, a random type of apparition will happen to that player
Only in v3 /watch [player] - Herobrine will spawn close to the selected player and watch from afar
/scare [player] - Input a username and Herobrine will appear right behind them
/jumpscare [player] - Input a username and Herobrine will materialize in front of the player and scare them as described
Only in v3 /spike [player] - Herobrine will spawn farther away and then materialize in front of the target player and scare them, like a mini-jumpscare
/schizo - Enables/disables creepy footsteps and whisper sounds behind the players at random times
Changed in v3 /him_help - Displays all the commands in the mod and explains what they do

Old Description (pre-3.0)
This is the description and guide for the mod for any version before v3.0
This work in progress mod has two main functions:
- Natural spawning of Herobrine around and close to players
- The power to scare specific players with Herobrine jumpscares via commands
If spawning has been enabled with the /haunt command or with The Caller block in v1.1 or later, every so often, a player in the world will be randomly picked and Herobrine has a random chance of a) simply appearing near them, watching for a while and disappearing, b) appearing right behind them or c) jumpscaring them by appearing in front of them. These events can also be triggered for individual players with commands.
Commands and Features
The mod adds four commands and one new block:
/haunt - Enables/disables spawning of Herobrine in a world
New in v2.0 /hauntfrequency [minutes] - Herobrine will wait however many minutes you input here before spawning again. By default he spawns every 10 minutes or so.
/call - Triggers a Herobrine apparition to a random player in the world
/scare [player] - Input a username and Herobrine will appear right behind them
/jumpscare [player] - Input a username and Herobrine will materialize in front of the player, produce a cacophony of sound from the depths of hell and give the player tunnel vision
New in v2.0 /schizo - Enables/disables creepy footsteps and whisper sounds behind the players at random times
New in v2.0 /himhelp - Displays all the commands in the mod and explains what they do
Changed in v2.0 The Caller - A craftable block that can enable Herobrine spawns without commands. To use The Caller, surround a redstone torch with natural deepslate (obtained by smelting cobbled deepslate) in the crafting table, place the block on the ground and right-click it. The Caller is a physical manifestation of an anomalous entity. It cannot be broken once placed, and once He has been called, there is no way to drive Him away. Use with care.
(In versions previous to 2.0, The Caller was crafted surrounding a normal torch with cobbled deepslate)
