About this project
What does bittcraft add?
Bittcraft.
Bittcraft is a Minecraft Forge mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 that lets you build, mine, craft, and interact at a true 1/16-block scale.
Instead of every Minecraft block being a single indivisible cube, Bittcraft can divide blocks into a 16×16×16 voxel grid, giving you 4,096 miniature positions inside a normal block space.
Build tiny houses inside ordinary rooms. Create miniature redstone machines. Ride tiny minecarts. Use functional doors, furnaces, chests, rails, pistons, signs, banners, paintings, and other blocks at miniature scale.
Bittcraft is designed to make miniature Minecraft feel like Minecraft, rather than just a decorative chiseling system.
Features
1/16-Scale Building
Blocks can be broken down and rebuilt using individual bits and miniature blocks.
A single Minecraft block contains:
16 × 16 × 16 = 4,096 miniature cells
This allows detailed construction while still using recognizable vanilla materials and textures.
Mini Blocks
Mini blocks behave as miniature versions of vanilla blocks rather than simple decorative cubes.
Depending on the block, miniature versions can retain features such as:
orientation
collision
interaction
inventories
redstone behavior
lighting
block states
crafting behavior
furnace behavior
Mini blocks remain miniature when placed, broken, and picked back up.
Miniature Redstone
Bittcraft includes a voxel-scale redstone system with signal strength from 0–15.
Supported components include:
redstone dust
redstone blocks
torches
levers
buttons
repeaters
comparators
observers
pistons
sticky pistons
pressure plates
detector rails
powered rails
activator rails
doors
trapdoors
fence gates
note blocks
daylight detectors
target blocks
tripwire
sculk sensors
calibrated sculk sensors
dispensers
droppers
hoppers
Signals can travel between neighboring BitBlocks, including across block seams.
Mini pistons can push miniature blocks and bits across the voxel grid, allowing compact mechanical builds and miniature machines.
Mini Minecarts and Rails
Miniature rails and minecarts operate directly on the voxel grid.
Minecarts follow miniature rail centerlines, work across BitBlock seams, interact with powered and detector rails, and can travel through miniature rail networks contained inside normal Minecraft builds.
Functional Mini Containers and Machines
Many blocks retain useful gameplay behavior at miniature scale, including:
chests
furnaces
blast furnaces
smokers
hoppers
dispensers
droppers
cauldrons
lecterns
enchanting tables
Miniature machines use their own voxel-scale inventories and interaction logic where necessary.
Mini Crafting
Mini blocks can participate in crafting as miniature equivalents of their vanilla blocks.
This means miniature materials can be used in familiar vanilla recipe layouts while remaining part of the miniature gameplay system.
Raw bits are intentionally more limited and are not interchangeable with full miniature blocks in normal recipes.
Mini Furnaces and Fuel
Miniature furnaces support miniature ingredients and miniature fuel.
Fuel duration is based on the corresponding vanilla fuel, so familiar fuel efficiency is preserved.
Miniature fuels are kept separate from normal full-size furnace use.
Interactive Blocks
A growing collection of vanilla blocks works at miniature scale, including:
doors
trapdoors
fence gates
signs
hanging signs
banners
beds
chests
bells
skulls and heads
shulker boxes
lecterns
item frames
paintings
flower pots
vines
glow berry vines
rails
redstone components
Support-sensitive blocks follow miniature attachment rules, so torches, redstone, rails, vines, banners, signs, and similar blocks cannot simply float on unsupported geometry.
Mini Paintings
Paintings can be placed as true miniature hanging decorations.
They use Minecraft's normal painting artwork and support the vanilla painting sizes at micro scale, including paintings spanning multiple miniature cells and BitBlock boundaries.
Miniature Lighting
Bittcraft includes voxel-aware lighting so miniature torches and other light sources illuminate nearby miniature geometry.
Special-rendered blocks such as chests, banners, beds, skulls, signs, and shulker boxes also participate in miniature lighting instead of appearing disconnected from their surroundings.
Designed for Tiny Players
Bittcraft works especially well with player-scaling mods such as Pehkui, allowing you to actually enter and interact with the miniature spaces you create.
At 1/16 player scale, a normal Minecraft block becomes an entire 16-block-wide miniature room.
Getting Started
Requirements
Bittcraft is currently made for:
Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1
Minecraft Forge 1.20.1
Install any additional dependencies listed on the Bittcraft download page for the version you are using.
For actually playing as a miniature character, a compatible player-scaling setup such as Pehkui is recommended.
Installing Forge
Install Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1 and launch it at least once.
Download the recommended Forge 1.20.1 installer.
Run the Forge installer.
Select:
Install Client
Start the Minecraft Launcher.
Select the new Forge installation and launch Minecraft once.
Close Minecraft.
Installing Bittcraft
Open your Minecraft installation folder.
On Windows, the default location is usually:
%appdata%\.minecraft
Open the:
mods
folder.
If it does not exist, create it.
Place the Bittcraft .jar file inside the mods folder along with any required dependency mods.
Your folder should look roughly like:
Minecraft/.minecraft/mods/bittcraft-[version].jar
Launch Minecraft using the Forge 1.20.1 profile.
You should now see Bittcraft in the Forge Mods menu.
First Steps in a World
For your first test, Creative Mode is recommended. for survival the first tools you will nedd are mini wooden tools crafted with sticks and buttons.
Find a normal vanilla block such as stone or planks and use Bittcraft's miniature tools/items to begin working with it.
Blocks can be converted into a miniature 16×16×16 internal grid as you actually remove material.
Simply tapping an untouched block without successfully removing a voxel will leave the original vanilla block intact.
Once converted, individual miniature cells can be removed, replaced, or combined with other miniature materials.
Bits vs. Mini Blocks
Bittcraft distinguishes between bits and mini blocks.
Bits are raw voxel material. They are primarily used for construction and explicit conversion operations.
Mini blocks represent miniature versions of actual Minecraft blocks. These are the items intended for most miniature crafting, smelting, interaction, and machine behavior.
If something needs to behave like the vanilla block it came from, you will generally want its mini-block form rather than a raw bit.
Try These First
A good first miniature build is a small room inside the space of a few normal Minecraft blocks.
Try adding:
a miniature door
a torch
a chest
a furnace
a crafting setup
redstone dust
a lever
a piston
powered rails
a minecart
a banner or painting
Then try connecting multiple BitBlocks together. Bittcraft systems are designed to continue across their boundaries, so miniature wiring, rails, structures, and machines are not limited to a single normal Minecraft block.
Playing at 1/16 Scale
Bittcraft becomes much more immersive when the player is also miniature. This is best done with the pehkui size mod.
At 1/16 scale, each miniature voxel is approximately equivalent to one normal Minecraft block relative to your character.
That means you can:
walk through miniature doors
enter miniature houses
ride miniature minecarts
use miniature machines
build functional miniature redstone systems
create entire structures inside spaces that would normally hold only a few blocks
Bittcraft itself focuses on the miniature world and interaction system. Player scaling can be supplied through a compatible scaling mod or modpack setup.
Multiplayer
Bittcraft is designed with multiplayer use in mind.
For multiplayer, install the same Bittcraft version and required dependencies on both the server and connecting clients.
Because miniature structures can contain thousands of individual cells, using the same mod version on everyone involved is strongly recommended.
Back up important worlds before upgrading between development versions.
Performance
A single BitBlock can contain thousands of miniature cells, so Bittcraft performs substantially more work than rendering an ordinary Minecraft block.
The mod includes optimization systems for:
palette-based voxel storage
indexed fluids
cached render state
optimized miniature lighting
redstone update propagation
cross-BitBlock lookups
minecart rail tracking
block-entity rendering
multiplayer synchronization
Large miniature builds are still more demanding than equivalent vanilla builds, particularly if they contain large amounts of animated machinery, redstone, transparent blocks, fluids, or special-rendered blocks.
World Backup Notice
Bittcraft changes blocks into data-rich miniature structures.
During development or when moving between versions, back up important worlds before updating.
If you are testing experimental builds, using a separate test world first is strongly recommended.
Build Small. Think Big.
A Minecraft block does not have to be the smallest unit anymore.
With Bittcraft, it can be the beginning of another world inside it.
