VC Admin - Simple Voice Chat Moderation Tool
Server-side moderation tool for Simple Voice Chat. Lets OPs join password-protected voice groups without the password. Fully transparent — all group members see a chat notification when an admin joins.

vcadmin-1.1.0+1.21.1-neoforge.jar. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Simple Voice Chat first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup. 1 comes through another mod in the chain.
1 extra mod was pulled in by another dependency. Indented rows show who needs each one. We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does VC Admin - Simple Voice Chat Moderation Tool add?
VC Admin
Voice chat is where the things you actually need to moderate happen. Not in chat logs, not on signs — in a group someone locked with a password thirty seconds ago. VC Admin gives your staff a way in, and a way to deal with what they find.
It runs entirely on the server. Your players install nothing.
Why it exists
Simple Voice Chat is excellent, and it does one thing deliberately: a password-protected group is private, full stop. There is no operator override, because for most servers that is the right default.
If you run a server with younger players, or one where you have promised your community that someone is watching, that default leaves you with nothing. You cannot check a report. You cannot mute someone who is shouting slurs at a twelve-year-old. You can only ban blind, after the fact, on someone else's word.
This mod fills that gap — and tries to do it without handing anyone a surveillance tool.
What you can do
Everything lives under /vcadmin (short: /vca) and needs OP level 2.
See what is going on
/vcadmin list— every active group, with its type, member count and lock state. Hover a locked group to read its password; click to copy it./vcadmin info <group>— everything about one group, including who is in it./vcadmin whois <player>— is their voice client connected, which group are they in, are they muted, and who muted them.

Get in
/vcadmin join <group>— join any group, password or not./vcadmin leave— leave again./vcadmin move <player> <group>— put someone into a group./vcadmin kick <player>— pull someone out of whichever group they are in.
Change a group without breaking it up
All of these apply to a live group. Nobody gets disconnected, and everyone's client updates immediately.
/vcadmin group <group> type normal|open|isolated— normal: members hear only each other. open: members hear each other and nearby players. isolated: members hear only each other, and outsiders cannot hear them at all./vcadmin group <group> password set <password>— lock it./vcadmin group <group> password clear— make it public./vcadmin group <group> rename <name>/vcadmin group <group> persistent true|false— whether it survives being empty./vcadmin group <group> hidden true|false— whether it appears in the group browser./vcadmin group <group> delete— empties it, then removes it./vcadmin create <name> [type] [password]— make one yourself. Handy for a permanent staff channel.
Quiet things down
/vcadmin mute <player> [reason]— silences them everywhere, group and proximity alike. Works on offline players, and they are told they were muted./vcadmin unmute <player>/vcadmin mutes— every standing mute, with who set it, when, and why. Your next shift will thank you./vcadmin group <group> mute— silence a whole group at once./vcadmin lockdown true— silence everybody who is not exempt. For when an event needs to actually start./vcadmin exempt <player> true— carve someone out of lockdown and group mutes.
Player mutes, exemptions and lockdown survive a restart. Group mutes deliberately do not — Simple Voice Chat hands a rebuilt group a fresh id, so a stored group mute would end up silencing the wrong people.
Watch without being seen
/vcadmin vanish on— you disappear from every group's member list. You still hear everything; your microphone is switched off./vcadmin vanish on speak— same, but you can still talk./vcadmin vanish off— back to normal./vcadmin vanish status— who on your team is currently hidden.
Plain vanish on mutes you on purpose. Hidden and audible means the group hears a voice it cannot place, which is a strange thing to do to people by accident.
A word about trust
Earlier versions of this mod announced every admin join in chat and promised there was no silent monitoring. Vanish changes that, so here is the honest version:
- A normal
/vcadmin joinstill announces itself to the group, exactly as before. - Vanish is a separate, deliberate command. It is not the default and it is never automatic.
- Every join, mute, vanish, lockdown and group change is written to the server log with the name of the operator who did it. Whatever your staff does here, it leaves a trail.
What you tell your community is your call. Our suggestion: tell them the truth — that staff can enter any voice group, that it is normally announced, and that in a live incident it might not be. Players are far more forgiving of a rule they knew about than of one they discover.
Installing it
- Install Simple Voice Chat on your server.
- Drop
vcadmininto your server'smods/folder. - Restart.
That is all. There is no config file to edit and nothing to install on the client — your players will not even know it is there until an admin uses it.
Compatibility
| Minecraft | Loader | Simple Voice Chat |
|---|---|---|
| 1.21.1 | NeoForge 21.1.x | 2.5 and up |
| 1.20.1 | Forge 47.x | 2.5 and up |
Server-side only. Tested against Simple Voice Chat 2.6.22 on both.
The old /vclist, /vcjoin and /vcleave commands still work — if you are already running VC Admin, nothing you have set up breaks.
