Casual Tinkering
A mod that adds some new tools for Tinkers' Construct.
Quick answer
Which Casual Tinkering release should I use?
Casual Tinkering 0.1.13 targets 1.12.2 with Forge. The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both. 1 required mod needs a matching file.
Where it goes
Is Casual Tinkering required on the client, server, or both?
The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both.
The source does not explicitly classify this release as client-only or server-only.
What else does Casual Tinkering 0.1.13 need?
0.1.13. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Mantle, Tinkers Construct, Mantle, Tinkers' Construct and 1 more first, but 1 required mod has no matching file for this setup. Do not mix loader builds to force a match. 1 comes through another mod in the chain.
1 extra mod was pulled in by another dependency. Indented rows show who needs each one. We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does Casual Tinkering add?
Casual Tinkering adds versatile new tools to Tinkers' Construct: the Circular Saw and the Magic Device, each designed for unique combat and utility roles.
🔧 1.12.2 Version (Forge)
🪚 Circular Saw
- Crafting: Tool Forge using Tough Tool Rod, Tough Tool Rod, Large Plate, and Pan.
- Woodcutting: Acts as an axe. Mining speed =
1.0 + 80% of Large Sword Blade's speed + 60% of Pan's speed. - Charged Sweep Attack: Hold right‑click to charge – charge time scales with attack speed. Releases a horizontal sweep attack damaging all hostile mobs in a 4‑block radius, 90° frontal cone. Costs 1 durability.
- Damage Formula:
1.0 + 80% of Large Plate's damage + 60% of Pan's damage. - Durability(head):
100% of Large Sword Blade's durability + 50% of Pan's durability - Precision Sawing (Modifier):
5× Compass– Logs that can be processed into planks drop as planks instead. - Overclock (Modifier):
5× Redstone Comparator– Increases damage dealt to secondary targets during sweeping attacks.
🔮 Magic Device
- Crafting: Tool Forge using Tool Rod, Sword Blade, and Pan.
- Ranged Strike: Hold right‑click for 1.5 seconds to conjure two magic swords that fly toward the targeted enemy, each dealing 50% of the weapon's base damage as magic damage (ignores armor).
- Full‑Cooldown Bonus: When you land a hit with a fully cooled main‑hand attack, an additional magic sword is summoned.
- Off‑Hand Synergy: While held in the off‑hand, any main‑hand sword (vanilla or Tinkers') that strikes a creature will automatically summon a magic sword to assist.
- Invincibility Frame Handling: Magic swords respect local invincibility frames to avoid chain‑resistance issues.
- Auto Device (Modifier):
4× Redstone Repeater + Redstone Torch– Automatically strikes nearby hostile mobs when held in main hand.
Inspired by Toram Online.
- Requires: Minecraft 1.12.2, Forge, Tinkers' Construct 2, Mantle.
🪚 1.20.1 Version (Forge)
A complete rewrite for modern Tinkers' Construct 3, fully data‑driven with Json Things.
🪚 Circular Saw
- Parts: 2 × Tough Handle, Large Plate, Saw Blade (new custom part).
- Woodcutting: Acts as an axe. Mining speed scales with material stats.
- Charged Sweep Attack: Hold right‑click – charge time scales with attack speed. Unleashes a sweeping attack in a 4‑block radius, 90° cone. Attack frequency also scales with attack speed.
- Sawing Modifier: Adds the charged attack ability. Can be applied to any melee tool using a Saw Blade, Netherite Ingot, and Redstone Comparator, consuming one ability slot.
- Casting Support: Saw Blade can be cast from gold or sand casts; gold casts are reusable, sand casts are single‑use.
- Tool Book: Full encyclopedia pages included.
🗡️ Throwing Knife
- Parts: 1 × Arrow Shaft, 2 × Arrow Head.
- Disposable ammunition: Stacks to 16. Crafted in the Tinker Station, yields 8 knives per craft.
- Throwing: Short charge (0.5s) – automatically fires. Damage scales with material stats.
- Retrieval: Sticks in blocks after impact, can be picked up.
🔥 Thermal Ray Modifier
- Consumes liquid fuel (lava, blazing blood, etc.) from the tool’s fluid tank to fire a devastating heat ray. Overheats after 10 consecutive shots.
✨ Magic Sword Series Modifiers
Magic Sword: On a fully charged melee hit, summons one or more magical swords that strike the target.
Magic Sword: Control – Charge and release to summon swords at a targeted enemy within 8 blocks.
Magic Sword: Auto – Automatically strikes the nearest enemy every few seconds.
Magic Sword: Coop – When held in the off‑hand, main‑hand attacks summon assisting swords.
