Middgard
A mod that completely overhauls the way biomes and forests generate to make the world more realistic!
Quick answer
Which Middgard release should I use?
Middgard Neomidgard-1.0.jar targets 1.21.1 with NeoForge. The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both. All 3 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is Middgard required on the client, server, or both?
The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both.
The source does not explicitly classify this release as client-only or server-only.
What else does Middgard Neomidgard-1.0.jar need?
Neomidgard-1.0.jar. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Tectonic, Oh The Trees You'll Grow, Treeplacer first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does Middgard add?
Features:
Midgard aims to change the way biomes generate within the overworld to make them more realistic both in their world placement and features. Most forest biomes have been completely changed to include entirely custom large tree designs based off of real forests. The overhaulded trees now include two new blocks, these being trunk and branch blocks, in addition to the normal Minecraft log blocks.
Thirteen new biomes have been added while several vanilla biomes have been condensed, removed, or completely re-done. All biomes have been reorganized in their world placement to group together with like biomes in their appropriate temperature zones with many of the new biomes attemping to make transitions between temperature zones and biome types more realistic. Three new wood types (pine, aspen, maple) have been added to new and existing biomes.
Requirements:
Currently, Midgard requires the following mods:
- Oh The Trees You'll Grow 1.5.0+
- Treeplacer 1.3.0+
- Tectonic 3.0.17+
Tectonic provides the base terrain shape although this may change in the future.
Feel free to use this mod in your modpack!
Known Bugs/Planned Features
WARNING: This mod is in beta and big changes and additions are likely!
Known Bugs:
- The advancement "Adventuring Time" does not take into account removed vanilla biomes or added biomes
- Leaves don't decay once wood blocks have been removed
Planned Features:
- Fixes for the above problems
- Custom tree designs for Cherry, Mangrove, Acacia, and Jungle trees
- Boats and signs for the three new wood types
The vanilla biomes that intentionally don't generate are:
- Old Growth Spruce Taiga
- Windswept Gravelly Hills
- Windswept Savanna
- Old Growth Birch Forest
- Birch Forest
Some of these may be re-added at some point but all of them were made redundant by new biomes or changes to other vanilla biomes.
Trunk and branch block fix kindly provided by "awakaxis".
