About this project

What does Create: Better Item Vaults add?

The aim of this project is to modify Create's Item Vaults to function how they should have functioned from the start, or at the very least since the 6.0 Post Production update. The entire selling point of the item vaults is that while they hold less per block than a chest or barrel, they allow for easy inventory managment at large scale. The problem is, anyone that's tried to actually use these vaults as a large scale storage solution quickly realizes the inherent limitations in the system.

That's where Create: Better Item Vaults comes in. Rather than holding a mere 20 slots with (up to) 64 items per slot for a max theoretical capacity of 1280, they will now simply hold 1280 single items. 1280 cobblestone, 1280 partially used pickaxes; it doesn't matter. No longer will you find your "70% full" item vault unable to accept more items because all the slots are filled. This comes with the added bonus of actually making the threshold switch + display link useful. If your display board says "70%", you can be sure that the vault will hold more items, because it really does have 30% remaining capacity that is accessible.

Compatible with Create: Deco, Create: Connected, Create: Design n' Decor, and Create: Vibrant Vaults various Item Vault type containers as of version 1.0.2.

Works perfectly with multiblock vaults, however if you intend to add this mod to an existing world with an item vault, every item vault block in the multiblock structure needs to be picked up and replaced for it to function correctly (for that multiblock structure anyways). It's not good enough to simply mine 1 corner of the multiblock structure to try and reset it.

DISCLAIMER: It does need to be mentioned that if you abuse this system with thousands of items with unique NBT data (half broken tools, enchanted books, etc) you WILL chunk ban yourself. This will result in you having to use an NBT editor to remove the items from your save , resulting in a loss of items. This is no different than what you will encounter using Refined Storage's disks with too much NBT data. It's an inherent limitation with Minecraft and I don't think anyone has found a solution other than "don't abuse it". Don't save every iron sword from your mob farm, etc. I've never actually run into this problem and I have used Refined Storage extensively in the past, but I've just kinda always been in the habit of not storing those kinds of things unless it's actually going to be needed.
