About this project

What does New Player Effects add?

New Player Effects is a lightweight server-side mod that automatically grants potion effects to players the very first time they join your server. Perfect for giving newcomers a head start or a warm welcome!

The effects persist through death and server restarts, and each effect has its own independent timer. Everything is managed through simple in-game commands — no config file editing needed.

Features:

  • Automatically detects first time players
  • Stack multiple effects with individual durations
  • Effects survive death and server restarts
  • Expires naturally when the timer runs out
  • Zero client installation required — server side only
  • Extremely lightweight, no performance impact

Commands (OP only):

  • /newplayereffects add <effect> <time> — add an effect for new players (time in minutes)
  • /newplayereffects clear — remove all effects
  • /newplayereffects reset <player> — reset a player so they receive effects again on next join

Example:

/newplayereffects add regeneration 30
/newplayereffects add resistance 60

New players will receive both Regeneration for 30 minutes and Resistance for 60 minutes!
