About this project
What does Magic Pollution add?
🌑 Magic Pollution
Every death leaves a scar. Protect your world, or watch it be consumed.
Magic Pollution is a challenging magic and survival mod that dynamically changes your world based on your failures. It introduces a spreading corruption system, base defense mechanics, rare loot hunting (Hack-and-Slash elements), and a terrifying boss.
⚠️ The Threat: The Spread of Stagnation
In this mod, dying has severe consequences. When a player dies, a Core of Magic Pollution is born at the location of their death.
Slowly but surely, this core will corrupt the surrounding environment, turning the terrain into Polluted Cobblestone.
If left unchecked, it will form a massive, dark dome of stagnation.
Entering a polluted area is dangerous—players will be inflicted with heavy debuffs (Slowness and Weakness), and hostile mobs will thrive.
✨ The Cure: Cleansing the Land
You have a few ways to fight back against the corruption:
The Root Cure: Use the Logic of Purification directly on the Core of Magic Pollution to stop the spread at its source.
Emergency Cleanse: Don't have the Logic item ready? Place a Purified Core Block in the corrupted zone. It acts as an emergency measure, scanning the area and turning polluted blocks back to normal before its power runs out.
🛡️ Base Defense: Establish a Sanctuary
Don't want your beautiful house or machinery swallowed by the darkness? You can protect your base!
Set up a Purification Block and power it with a Purification Crystal to create a permanent Sanctuary (Barrier).
Stagnation cannot spread into a Sanctuary, and new cores cannot spawn inside it.
You can also use a Guardian Block, which periodically slams down Guardian Golems of the Sanctuary to automatically hunt down monsters within the barrier!
⚔️ High Risk, High Reward: Jackpot & Bosses
Fighting inside the polluted zones isn't just dangerous—it's highly rewarding.
Loot Drops: Defeating monsters on polluted blocks gives a chance to drop Heart Shards based on the enemy's max HP.
The Jackpot System: If you are incredibly lucky, an enemy might drop the legendary Obsidian Scythe (Prototype), a powerful weapon with immense enchantments!
The King of Stagnation: Beware. Recklessly interfering with the logic of the world might cause the pollution to go berserk, summoning the ultimate boss: the King of Stagnation.
⚙️ Highly Configurable
Play the game your way. We have included a fully comprehensive config file (magic_pollution-common.toml) that allows you to adjust almost everything:
Pollution spread speed and maximum radius.
Minimum distance between cores.
The lifespan of Purified Cores and Manager Blocks.
Maximum number of Guardian Golems.
Jackpot drop rates and performance/server-load settings!
