About this project

What does DynamicLantern add?

Dynamic Lantern **is a mod that allows lanterns and lights equipped in Curios slots to be displayed on the player.

Forge 1.20.1 and NeoForge 1.21.1 are now supported.**

After equipping a vanilla lantern or soul lantern in the Curios belt slot, it will render on the player’s waist with a subtle pendulum swing effect. When Iris and Oculus is installed, compatible shader packs can recognize the lantern in Curios to provide a glow effect, without adding a separate dynamic light source or requiring any extra libraries. It is very lightweight.

The original reason I made this mod was because other similar mods usually require dynamic lighting mods as dependencies, and as we all know, dynamic lighting can have a noticeable impact on performance. Many of those mods also require complicated library dependencies.

So I made this simple and lightweight Dynamic Lantern mod instead. It’s perfect for players who only want the visual effect.
