🇺🇸 ENGLISH VERSION

🌪️ Primal Climate: The Living Atmosphere & Dynamic Weather Overhaul

Have you ever felt that weather in Minecraft is purely cosmetic, flat, and repetitive? In vanilla, rain falls identically over flat grasslands, dense jungles, and soggy marshes, while clear skies rarely offer any atmospheric depth, temperature, or wind sensations.

Primal Climate completely overhauls the Overworld’s atmosphere. Weather is no longer just a superficial rain filter; it becomes an active, living survival ecosystem. Every biome features its own climate identity 24 hours a day—complete with volumetric fog palettes, daytime breezes, morning dew, dynamic howling audio, and extreme storm systems driven by real physics.

✨ Key Features

  • 🌅 24-Hour Diurnal Atmosphere: Weather is no longer limited to rainstorms. Biomes dynamically shift through Dawn, Midday, Dusk, and Deep Night, altering horizon fog density, visual colors, ambient sounds, and micro-particles.
  • 💨 Vectorial & Synchronized Wind Physics: Storm wind pushes entities in the exact same direction as visual wind particles. Walking against the wind requires physical momentum, while sprinting with it provides a fluid boost. Agacharse / crouching dampens wind force by 65%.
  • 🐾 Differentiated Creature Drift: The wind affects the entire world, not just the player! Small animals and fowl get tossed and flutter in gales; standard livestock and monsters drift against ground friction; heavy mounts stand firm; and iron golems or bosses are completely immune.
  • 🏹 Ballistic Aerodynamics in Real-Time: Arrows and tridents shot by players or skeletons curve dynamically in mid-air following the wind's angle and strength.
  • 🔊 Dynamic Acoustic Atmosphere: Gusting storm winds howling with real-time volume and pitch modulation, accompanied by creaking branches, woodland calls, and muffled thunder.
  • ❄️ Soft Integration with Cold Sweat (2.4.4+): Blizzards and desert heat waves dynamically scale within Cold Sweat's internal thermal math, allowing fur armor to properly insulate the player.
  • ⚙️ Create: Aeronautics & Sable Physics: Atmospheric wind vectors and turbulence seamlessly apply kinetic forces to airships, flying contraptions, and sub-levels.

🌍 The 8 Biome Climate Categories

1. 🏜️ Deserts & Badlands (Desert)

  • Calm Weather (Diurnal Cycle):
    • Dawn: Cool morning mist with pinkish hues over cold dunes.
    • Midday: Golden desert heat haze with suspended dust particles and hissing dry breezes. Extended far visibility up to 190 blocks.
    • Dusk: Spectacular crimson and copper horizons.
    • Night: Sharp temperature drop; dark, freezing fog that only dissipates when taking shelter near the warmth of campfires or torches (fireWarmth).
  • In Storms (Dust Storms & Dry Thunderstorms):
    • Massive clouds of whipping sand (pale or red sand depending on the biome).
    • Dust Devils: Mobile sand tornadoes that trap entities in their vortex and launch them into the sky.
    • Spontaneous fire ignition on exposed sand during dry lightning storms.
    • Blazing Husks: Monsters attacking during desert thunderstorms ignite their victims with heightened intensity.
    • Cold Sweat: Drastic temperature surge (+9.0 °C in severe storms).

2. ❄️ Snowy Biomes & Glacial Peaks (Snowy)

  • Calm Weather (Diurnal Cycle):
    • Dawn: Frosted dew and crystalline white mist over valleys.
    • Midday: Crisp atmosphere with suspended snowflakes and solar sparkles.
    • Night: Extreme nocturnal cold; players exhale visible clouds of breath condensation.
  • In Storms (Arctic Blizzards):
    • Solid Ice Hail: Falling blocks of packed ice that shatter on impact and damage unprotected entities.
    • Snownados: Freezing white vortexes that lift animals and players into the air.
    • Progressive vanilla freezing with frosted hearts.
    • Cold Sweat: Extreme thermal drop (-9.0 °C), requiring goat fur coats or overhead shelter.

3. 🐸 Swamps & Mangroves (Swamp)

  • Calm Weather (Diurnal Cycle):
    • Dawn & Dusk: Humid landscape with frog croaks and bubbles rising from the muddy depths.
    • Night: Thick blanket of marsh gas (low, greenish cold ground fog) floating over stagnant waters.
  • In Storms (Swamp Downpour):
    • Biological spores suspended in the air.
    • Muck & Stagnation: Standing still or wading in water allows the mud to trap you, inflicting Slowness II and Hunger exhaustion.

4. 🌴 Tropical Jungles (Jungle)

  • Calm Weather (Diurnal Cycle):
    • Dawn: Dense tropical dew constantly dripping from treetops and splashing at your feet.
    • Midday: Ambient parrot calls and creaking bamboo beneath the canopy.
    • Night: Thick tropical humidity mist hugging the jungle floor.
  • In Storms (Tropical Monsoon):
    • Slippery Mud: Soaked mud and grass cause players and dropped items to slide inertially.
    • Thermal Exhaustion: Suffocating heat and humidity penalize prolonged continuous sprinting with Mining Fatigue and Weakness.
    • Thick curtain of steam that reduces far visibility while keeping your immediate surroundings clear.

5. 🌲 Dark Forest (Dark Forest)

  • Calm Weather (Diurnal Cycle):
    • Beneath the Canopy: Permanent gloomy fog limiting the horizon to 45 blocks, with falling foliage particles, creaking wood, and tense ambient cues.
  • In Storms (Umbral Storm):
    • Hostile Acoustic Muffling: Heavy rain hammering the dense canopy muffles hostile mob sounds (creepers, skeletons, zombies) beyond 3.5 blocks, rendering them nearly silent until they are right on top of you.
    • Distant echoes of endermen disturbed by the thunder.
    • Canopy Darkness: Inflicts Darkness when standing in areas without artificial block light.

6. 🌾 Arid Savannas & Plateaus (Savanna)

  • Calm Weather (Diurnal Cycle):
    • Dawn & Dusk: Golden and amber horizons with crisp visibility exceeding 200 blocks.
    • Midday: Warm breezes with dry grass particles floating in the distance.
  • In Storms (Dry Electrical Tempest):
    • Continuous atmospheric lightning illuminating the plains within a 15-block radius.
    • Direct strike risk (6%), encouraging players to build copper lightning rods to protect farms and camps.

7. 🏔️ Taiga & Boreal Forests (Taiga)

  • Calm Weather (Diurnal Cycle):
    • Dawn: Cool pine-scented mist and gently falling conifer needles.
    • Day & Night: Crisp, cold atmosphere with winds whistling through tall spruces.
  • In Storms (Boreal Squall):
    • Extinguishing Gale: Fierce gusts extinguish exposed torches and campfires lacking overhead shelter.
    • Biting Sleet: Walking without a helmet temporarily blinds you. Wearing a helmet protects your eyes, though the ice will gradually wear down its durability.

8. 🍃 Windy Plains, Forests & Hills (Windy)

  • Calm Weather (Diurnal Cycle):
    • Dawn: Dewdrops on flowers that splash as you run across them.
    • Midday: Spring breezes with floating petals and pollen across meadows and flower forests. In windswept_hills, running with the wind grants a subtle natural speed boost.
    • Night: Soft bioluminescence over flowers and whistling winds at high altitudes (Y > 95).
  • In Storms (Kinetic Gale & Hurricane):
    • Physical Push & Drift: Wind actively pushes entities and dropped items. Crouching reduces wind push by 65%.
    • Differentiated Mob Physics: Chickens and birds flutter helplessly in strong winds; cows, sheep, and zombies drift with the current; horses and heavy beasts resist; and Iron Golems stay completely rooted.
    • Ballistic Deflection: Arrows from archers and players curve mid-flight with the wind current.
    • Dynamic Howling Sound: Realistic wind gusts that swell and fade in volume and pitch.

🛠️ Survival Guide & Preparation Tips

Biome Hazard Target Biome Survival Countermeasure
Blizzard & Solid Ice Hail Snowy / Peaks Wear leather or fur insulation (Cold Sweat), stay under solid roofs, and avoid high open ridges.
Dust Devils & Whirlwinds Desert Keep clear of rotating funnels, avoid jumping near the vortex center, and gather near fires at night.
Biting Sleet Blindness Taiga Always wear a protective helmet on your head and monitor its durability during hail storms.
Quagmire & Mud Traps Swamp Keep moving continuously over lily pads or solid terrain; never stay stationary in murky waters.
Thermal Exhaustion Jungle Pace your movement; avoid continuous sprinting during suffocating monsoon rains.
Silent Monster Ambush Dark Forest Place light sources frequently and stay vigilant; creepers won't make noise until they are within 3.5 blocks.
Frequent Lightning Strikes Savanna Install copper lightning rods around your homestead and seek indoor shelter when hearing dry thunder.
Arrow Wind Deflection Plains / Hills Compensate your bow aim with the wind direction, shoot downwind for extra range, or close in with a shield.

🔌 Soft-Dependencies (100% Optional & Modular)

Primal Climate follows a zero required dependencies philosophy. You do not need any external mods to enjoy 100% of the climate systems, fog shaders, ballistics, and wind physics.

However, if you choose to install popular companion mods, automatic soft bridges activate seamlessly:

🌡️ Cold Sweat (2.4.4+)

  • Without Cold Sweat: Manages freezing via vanilla frosted hearts (ticksFrozen) and heat via exhaustion without issues.
  • With Cold Sweat Installed: Disables direct damage to avoid double jeopardy; modulates ambient world temperature fur armor absorb and protect your core body temperature naturally.

✈️ Create: Aeronautics & Sable

        • Without Aeronautics: Wind acts natively on players, mobs, arrows, and items.
        • With Aeronautics Installed: Applies real kinetic drag vectors and atmospheric turbulence to airships, contraptions, and flying machines.

⚙️ Configuration & Modpack Tailoring

Primal Climate is fully customizable via primalclimate-common.toml:

  • Add or remove biome registry IDs for any of the 8 categories (fully compatible with Terralith, Biomes O' Plenty, etc.).
  • Adjust wind push force, mob friction multiplier, projectile deflection, or add custom mobs to the wind immunity blacklist.
  • Fine-tune fog start/far distances, transition speeds, or toggle specific hazards (hail, whirlwinds, dynamic sound, slippery mud) to suit your modpack's balance.

🔌 Compatibilidad Leve (Soft-Dependencies: 100% Opcional y Modular)
