About this project

What does Wretched Stalker add?

The Stalker — a Fabric horror mod

A predator that doesn't rush you. It watches, it closes in, and after three days... it commits.

The concept

The Stalker is a single relentless horror entity built around a staged hunt. Instead of a jump-scare mob, it plays a slow psychological game — lurking at the treeline, creeping closer over days, whispering with your own words, until it finally attacks.

The three stages

  • Observe — Stays far out ,circles, watches from your blind spots. Never attacks.
  • Closure — Tightens the noose, moves in close, pressure builds with sound and FX.
  • Terminal — It chases and kills, hitting harder than it did before, with a custom death message.

It never teleports in front of you — it stalks and paths in naturally, and even follows you across dimensions by reappearing far behind you. It won't despawn mid-hunt.

Atmosphere & dread

  • Tall, gaunt, blocky horror model with glowing red hollow eyes (emissive), long clawed arms, a hunched ribbed frame, and creepy idle/lurch/lunge animations (GeckoLib).
  • 17 ambient events — whispers behind you, distant sounds, soul flames, darkness, heartbeat pulses — scaled up at night, in the dark, and when it's actively hunting you.
  • Chat mimicry — it echoes your own typed messages back, distorted.
  • Optional Simple Voice Chat replay — it can play back snippets of your voice.
  • Client tension HUD + low proximity heartbeat when it's near and terminal.

Player-facing

  • Spawn egg + /summonstalker, plus an advancement for killing one.
  • Fully configurable (config/stalker_horror.json) and hot-reloadable with /stalker_horror reload — stage lengths, spawn distances, ambience intensity, combat strength, HUD, and more.

Requirements

  • Fabric 1.20.1, Fabric API, GeckoLib 4.4+
  • Optional: Simple Voice Chat (for voice replay)
  • Download: stalker-horror-2.6.1.jar
  • configured-fabric-1.20.1-2.2.3.jar
  • ForgeConfigAPIPort-v8.0.3-1.20.1-Fabric.jar
  • modmenu-7.2.2.
