About this project

What does Chat Actions add?

This mod requires Cloth Config API.

Chat Actions

Chat Actions is a mod that allows you to send messages and run commands when a trigger is sent in chat. It's similar to Chat Triggers, but without any coding knowledge or importing modules required, albiet more limited. Chat Actions is completely client-sided, so feel free to use it on any server. The macros that are performed are limited to the chat box, meaning that it should be allowed on most servers.

How to Use

Press I (or whichever keybind you have configured) to open the configuration screen. From there, you can edit your actions and triggers.

Chat Actions config screen

Actions are actions that will be performed when the trigger is met, and triggers are the conditions that have to be met in chat for an action to be performed.

Example

Special Actions

Normally, actions just paste the message you set in chat or run a command. However, in 1.20 and above, you can use these special actions to perform certain tasks by writing the corresponding special action in the box, followed by your input, like such:

Example usage

These are the possible special actions that you can use, as of version 1.20.

  • displayClientMessage <text>: Displays a message that only you can see, like such: Example of displayClientMessage
  • displayTitle <text>: Displays a title on your screen.
  • displaySubtitle <text>: Displays a subtitle on your screen.
  • playSound <sound>: Plays a sound.
    • Tip: You can look through the available sounds in /playsound to see what the available sounds are. The sounds in playSound are formatted exactly like those in Minecraft's playsound command. So, if you were to play an ambient cow sound, this is what your action would look like: playSound:minecraft:entity.cow.ambient

Some Example Usages

Some example usages for this mod are:

  • Automatically ban/mute players on your server when they say things that are not allowed
  • Respond to your friends if they say something in chat while you are AFK and let them know about your situation
  • Requeue into a game after the last one has endedd
  • Say GG after a game

These are just some of the opportunities you have with this mod.

Good Things to Know

  • The triggers/actions match each other. Trigger #1 will trigger action #1, and action #2 will respond to trigger #2, etc.
  • To add triggers/actions, close the screen and re-open it. Two new blank boxes will appear that you can use.
  • To remove triggers/actions, make the box blank. If two matching triggers/actions are blank (so action #1 and trigger #1, etc) they will automatically be removed.
  • The mod looks for exact matches, not messages that contain the trigger.
  • Triggers are case-sensitive.
  • As of 1.20, this mod automatically removes color formatting from the triggers.
  • Some servers, such as Hypixel, format their messages to color them. The mod will not pick up on this formatting, so it may not be possible to monitor player chat on these servers - however, server messages (such as 'You Lost') will still fire.
