About this project

What does [TFCSF]TFCScorch&Frost add?

[TFCSF] TFC Scorch and Frost adds dynamic heat wave and cold wave weather events to TerraFirmaCraft, introducing regional temperature extremes that evolve with natural Gaussian-shaped intensity curves.

Features

  • Climate-Aware Events – Events are weighted by Köppen climate classification (11 zone groups from 30 subtypes). Arid/desert zones favor heat waves; polar/tundra zones favor cold waves; temperate zones see both.
  • Seasonal Multipliers – Heat waves are amplified in summer (×2) and blocked in winter; cold waves are amplified in winter (×2) and blocked in summer.
  • Gaussian Temperature Curves – Each event ramps up, peaks, and decays naturally over 3–7 in-game days using a Gaussian distribution (σ = duration × 0.4).
  • 3-Phase Notifications – Players receive chat messages in Chinese or English when an event onsets, peaks, and recovers.
  • Multiplayer Ready – Server-authoritative with lightweight sync packets. All temperature logic runs server-side; clients only display the result.
  • Fully Configurable – Enable/disable the system, adjust max concurrent events, duration range, curve shape, and phase messages via server config.
  • TFC API Integration – Uses KöppenClassification, Calendar, and SolarCalculator from TFC's native APIs for seamless compatibility.
  • Debug Commands – /tfcscorch trigger, /tfcscorch list, /tfcscorch clear, /tfcscorch whereami (requires permission level 2).

How It Works

Every in-game day, the system checks each climate zone that has at least one player. An event may trigger based on the zone's probability weight. Once active, the temperature offset follows a Gaussian curve, ensuring a smooth and immersive experience. The mixin injects into OverworldClimateModel.getInstantTemperature() — it does not replace the climate model, making it compatible with other temperature-modifying mods.

Requirements

  • TerraFirmaCraft 4.1.2+

Compatibility

Since this mod directly modifies TFC's climate dimension (injecting into OverworldClimateModel.getInstantTemperature() at RETURN), it is compatible with any body temperature/thirst/hydration/crop mod that reads TFC's environmental temperature as an input parameter. No additional compatibility patches are needed.
