duck corpse
Adds the Duck Locator, a rubber-duck compass that points straight to where you died so you can recover your dropped items fast — with an on-screen arrow, live distance readout, and a quack-approved recipe (compass + 4 feathers).

About this project
What does duck corpse add?
Duck Corpse
Died in the Nether and forgot where your stuff landed? **Duck Corpse** gives you a rubber-duck-themed compass that points straight back to it.
Features
- **Duck Locator** — a compass reskinned as a rubber duck. Hold it and an arrow appears on your screen, always rotating to point toward your last death location, along with a live distance readout in blocks.
- **Right-click** the item for a chat message telling you the distance and cardinal direction to your dropped items.
- **Automatic** — die and respawn, and a Duck Locator is waiting in your inventory. No need to remember to craft one in advance.
- **Craftable** too, in case you lose it: 1 Compass + 4 Feathers in a plus-shape pattern.
- Works across dimensions — if your death happened in another dimension, the Duck Locator will let you know instead of pointing you the wrong way.
How it works
Duck Corpse hooks into vanilla's death-location tracking (the same system behind the Recovery Compass) so it always points to your most recent death, no matter how long ago it happened or how far you've wandered since.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Minecraft Forge
Planned / possible future additions
- A proper hand-drawn duck texture (currently a placeholder)
- A duck-shaped corpse marker that visually sits at the death location, not just a locator item
