About this project

What does ChessBoard add?

Mod Description
This is a lightweight board‑game interaction mod that adds several freely playable boards to Minecraft. All boards come with a simple but practical interface, and no built‑in rules are enforced.

Four Board Games — Chinese Chess (Xiangqi, 10×9), Chess (8×8), Gomoku (15×15), and Tic‑Tac‑Toe (3×3)

Full Interaction — Right‑click on a board cell to make a move. Selected pieces are raised with a lift animation, and moving pieces are animated with a smooth travel effect.

3D Pieces — Chess pieces (King, Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook, Pawn) are modelled with Blockbench. White pieces use light‑coloured wood (birch), black pieces use dark wood (dark oak).

Chinese Character Pieces — Xiangqi pieces display Chinese characters (e.g. 帅/将, 仕/士, etc.) in red and black to distinguish the two sides.

Dark‑Chess Mode — Xiangqi supports both a standard dark‑chess opening and a fully facedown opening. Clicking a facedown piece triggers a flip animation to reveal it.

Randomised Opening — Gomoku can be started with 3–10 grey obstacle pieces placed at random positions on the board.

Management Interface — Opens by default with Shift + Right‑click. It supports undo, reset, import/export of game‑state codes, and special game‑mode starts.

Side‑Menu Option — Optionally, right‑clicking the side edges of the board can open the management interface directly, while right‑clicking the top and bottom edges still performs normal moves.

Main Features

  • Right‑click interaction: Right‑click on a board to place or move a piece at the corresponding position – intuitive and straightforward.

  • Sneak reset: While holding the sneak (Shift) key, right‑click a board to instantly clear it and restore it to its initial state.

  • No rule enforcement: The mod does not include win/loss detection or move restrictions. You are free to arrange pieces as you like, making it ideal for casual setup, teaching demonstrations, or pure entertainment.

The mod was generated with AI assistance, so its functionality is basic yet complete – a nice addition for players who enjoy tinkering with boards in a relaxed way.
