About this project
What does Sian add?
Sian — Arthropod Collection Mod
Sian brings 21 hand-animated, real-world arthropods into Minecraft — scorpions, tarantulas, stag beetles, rhinoceros beetles, mantises, hornets, bees, ants, butterflies, ladybugs, and grasshoppers — and lets you hunt them, harvest their body parts, and craft a full set of themed weapons, armor, and wings.
Requires NeoForge 1.21.1 and GeckoLib 4.7.6+.
What you'll encounter
Every bug is a real species with its own model, animation, and behavior. They're spread across biomes and split between day and night, so the world feels alive:
- Deserts & badlands — the Deathstalker, a tiny, lightning-fast scorpion whose bite inflicts Deadly Venom (5 hearts/second — it will kill you).
- Jungles — Asian Forest Scorpions, and the towering Hercules Beetle, the tankiest creature in the mod at 25 hearts.
- Forests at night — three stag beetles that launch into the air and glide away when you hurt them.
- Plains by day — mantises that hit like a truck, grasshoppers that leap 5 blocks straight up, harmless butterflies, and the deadly Asian Giant Hornet, which actively hunts you down.
- Tarantulas across every warm biome — they bite with poison and reflect damage back at you like living Thorns armor.
Hunt, harvest, and craft
Killing bugs drops body-part materials you turn into gear:
- Mantis Foreleg Sword — 10 attack damage, the strongest blade in the mod.
- Hornet Stinger Sword — inflicts lethal Deadly Venom on hit.
- Hornet Head Helmet — grants +5 attack damage while worn.
- Grasshopper armor set — the boots give you permanent Jump Boost III.
- Insect Wings — worn in the chest slot, they grant creative-style flight. Crafted from butterfly wings and ladybug elytra.
- Healing Honey — always edible, instantly restores your health to full.
A unique enchanting twist
Skip the enchanting table. Combine gear with bug materials on an anvil:
- Tarantula Hair + any armor → Thorns III (max level).
- Fire Ant Acid + any tool, weapon, or armor → Mending + Unbreaking III.
Each costs just 1 XP level and 1 material — a fresh, survival-friendly way to power up your gear.
