About this project

What does Soft Foliage add?

Soft Foliage

Leaves aren't walls, they shouldn't feel like them.

Instead of treating foliage like solid walls, Soft Foliage lets you move through supported plants without being obstructed.

Optional Soft Platform behavior also lets foliage support you from above for a short time while still staying passable from below and from the sides.

Supported Foliage

Soft Foliage currently supports:

  • Leaves
  • Bamboo
  • Azalea
  • Flowering Azalea
  • Lily Pads through configurable Soft Platform behavior
  • Sweet Berry Bushes through configurable slowdown and damage settings

Soft Platforms

Supported foliage can optionally act like a soft temporary platform.

Available modes:

  • Disabled — foliage stays fully passable
  • Crouch Only — foliage supports you while crouching
  • Always — foliage briefly supports you when you land on it from above, while still remaining passable from other directions

You can also configure:

  • support duration
  • recovery timing
  • fall cushioning

Sweet Berry Bushes

Sweet Berry Bushes can be configured to stop being annoying too

The options be:

  • slow players down
  • deal contact damage

Transportation

Supported player-controlled vehicles/mounts can also be configured to move through selected foliage such as leaves and bamboo.

In-Game Configuration

Soft Foliage includes a full in-game settings screen.

Open it through:

Pause Menu → Options → World Options → Soft Foliage Settings

or use:

/softfoliage config

Multiplayer/Servers

In multiplayer the server controls the settings for all connected players.

The mod must be installed on both the client and server when playing multiplayer.
