Village Militia Mod — Feature Guide & Documentation
Status: Under Active Development
Note: Tons of new features, behavior subroutines, and AI optimizations are currently being worked on. Stay tuned for future updates!
Getting Started
Village Militia Spawn Egg
- Location: Located at the very end of the vanilla Spawn Eggs creative tab.
- Cost-Efficient Recruitment: Activating the militia via Sneak (Shift) + Right-Click with an Iron Helmet on an unemployed villager
Command Modes
Hold an Emerald and (Shift) + Right-Click with a militia member to switch between the following modes. A distinct particle effect will appear around their feet to show their active mode instantly:
| Mode | Visual Indicator | Behavior Description |
|---|---|---|
| IDLE | Free Roam | Wanders freely; stays relaxed. |
| FOLLOW | END_ROD |
Follows and protects the player. |
| GUARD | ENCHANT |
Holds ground and guards the spot. |
| PATROL | GLOW |
Patrols nearby area for monsters. |
Cavalry & Transport Mechanics
- Cavalry Mounting Conditions: A militia will automatically mount a horse if the horse meets three strict conditions:
- It has no current passengers.
- It is already saddled.
- It is not currently leashed.
- Forced Dismount Command: If a militia is currently riding a horse, you can order them to dismount instantly by Sneak (Shift) + Right-Clicking them with an empty hand.
- Tactical Leashing (Troop Transport): Once the militia is mounted, you can attach a lead to the horse. This allows you to drag both the horse and the militia together, making long-distance relocation a breeze!
Equipment Customization & Arsenal
Make sure the militia is not currently in combat.
Keep both of the player's hands empty.
Do not hold
Shift.Right-click the militia.
The equipment menu allows you to manage the militia's armor, main-hand item, and off-hand item.
Combat AI & Special Interactions
- Advanced Combat AI: Features smart positioning, directional strafing, tactical retreats, and timely shield-blocking to make your villagers viable combatants instead of punching bags.
- Hero of the Village: When you approach with the Hero of the Village effect, nearby militia will salute you!
Village Druid & Support Mechanics
Village Druid Spawn Egg & Recruitment
- Location: Located alongside the Militia at the very end of the vanilla Spawn Eggs creative tab.
- Golden Apple Transformation: Sneak (Shift) + Right-Click an unemployed, adult villager (
profession: NONE) while holding a Golden Apple (Items.GOLDEN_APPLE) to convert them into a Village Druid.
Druid Spellcasting & AI Behaviors
The Druid acts as a backline battle-mage, actively cycling between support healing, crowd control, and offensive spells while maintaining dynamic positioning:
| Spell Type | Trigger / Target | Spell Effects & Visuals |
|---|---|---|
| HEALING_LIGHT | Low HP Allies / Self | Restores 5.0 HP, grants Regeneration I (4s), and emits heart/cherry blossom particles. |
| THORN_BINDING | Ranged Enemies | Deals 4.0 magic damage, applies Slowness II (6s), and releases spore blossom particles. |
| ARCANE_RAY | Ranged Enemies | Fires a high-damage beam (6.0 magic damage), applies Glowing (5s), and emits amethyst resonance. |
| POISON_BLOOM | Ranged Enemies | Deals 2.0 magic damage, applies Poison I (5s) + Slowness II (5s) with crimson spore particles. |
| NATURE_BURST | Close Enemies | Single & AOE blast dealing magic damage and applying heavy knockback within 2.5 blocks. |
- Tactical Movement & Kiting: Druids automatically retreat if enemies close in within 7 blocks, close the distance if targets stray beyond 11 blocks, and continuously strafe sideways while channeling to evade incoming attacks.
- Casting Circle FX: Renders a pulsing two-ring particle magic circle at the Druid's feet during spell channeling with spell-themed particles (
END_ROD,SPORE_BLOSSOM_AIR,CRIMSON_SPORE,CHERRY_LEAVES).
