Spider Overhaul

OVERVIEW

As of the latest version, the mod adds 11 new creature with only 6 being part of survival and 5 yet to be fully implemented to the game. Each new mob is themed around a certain biome while also adding additional content to give you an incentive to engage with them.

Most of the added creatures are spiders and have unique mechanics that make this mod a delightful addition to most modpacks.

FUTURE UPDATES

There is a lot planned for the mod, and it is still in its relative infancy. As of right now there is no concrete update roadmap but here is a list of what we will do in the coming updates.

• Spiders to add: Taiga, Savanna, Spider Crab, Mushroom, Sculk.
• Mimic Armor trim: Made from different spider drops, mimics the surrounding colors on your trim.
• Spider Boss: Vaguely planned, will live in a new giant bamboo biome.
• Additionally: Resprites, balance changes, more spider and bug fixes.

CONTENT

As of right now there are 6 spiders implemented, all of which inhabit different biomes in the overworld. The overall design generally matches the style of the game. Behaviouraly all the spiders are unique in the way they interact with the player.

Current Spiders

🪵Birch Spider : Nests inside fallen birch logs.

🏜️Desert Spider : Prickly. shoots its spines out on death.

🪤Swamp Spider : Mimics lilypads in swamps, great swimmer.

💎Cavern Spider : Carries precious gems on its back, webs its targets to immobilize them.

🎍Jungle Spider : Agile, poisonous, upon death spills spider pollen.

❄️Ice Spider : Uses Icy venom to hinder its prey's movement.

Block & Items

• 🌼The pollen from Jungle spiders can be bottled and used on bamboo to turn it into Giant Bamboo, a new decorative block.
• 🪡Desert Spider spines can be thrown. (under development)
• 🧊Ice chunks from the Ice spider can be used to craft an ice snowball for extra childhood memories!

Effects

• 🌊Bogged: Temporarily lose the ability to swim and sink to the bottom.
• 🥶Icy: Temporarily makes your feet slip on any block.
• 🕸️Webbed: Get covered in web, "Quick! Spam LMB to get out of it early!"

Configuration

The mod is packaged with a neat config where you can change spider stats as well as switch between different model styles. The latter exists because the mod had a different style initially, instead of ditching that we decided to add it as a config option.
