DoxHitbox
Precise per-part OBB hitboxes (head/torso/arms/legs) that match the rendered pose.
Quick answer
Which DoxHitbox release should I use?
doxhitbox-2.0.0.jar targets 1.21.1 with NeoForge. The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both. No extra mods listed for this file.
Where it goes
Is DoxHitbox required on the client, server, or both?
The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both.
The source does not explicitly classify this release as client-only or server-only.
What else does doxhitbox-2.0.0.jar need?
doxhitbox-2.0.0.jar. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
This file does not list any required mods. Do not add a library just because a different file uses it.
3 extra mods were pulled in by other dependencies. Indented rows show who needs each one. We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does DoxHitbox add?
Short description
A standalone engine that gives humanoid entities **precise oriented-bounding-box (OBB) hitboxes per body part** — head, torso, arms, legs — that follow the **actual rendered pose** (standing, sneaking, swimming, crawling, elytra, sleeping, riding, attacking, and the transitions between them). Hits are resolved by ray/slab test against those boxes, so what you see is what you hit. By itself it provides the hitbox geometry, a debug wireframe, and tuning tools; other mods build part-based damage on top of it.
Features
**Per-part OBB hitboxes** for humanoids (players, zombies/skeletons, and tagged custom humanoids), reproduced from vanilla pose math.
**Render-accurate** — captures the real rendered part matrices; for animations the server can't reproduce (e.g. player-animation mods), the observing client streams a part snapshot so hit detection still matches ("favor-the-shooter").
**Per-entity uniform scale** config for oversized mobs (e.g. giants) — hitbox scales with the rendered model.
**Developer hooks** (
DoxPoseHooks): inject upper-body twist/roll (leaning), arm overrides (weapon poses), crawl flags, and stream predicates — pure functions over server-synced state.**Non-humanoid parts** — cows, chickens, spiders, golems and other non-biped mobs get per-part hit boxes captured from their rendered model (no per-entity config, no distance limit).
**Melee, arrow & bullet resolution** — the engine owns all non-gun part judgment too: melee and arrows resolve a part via
DoxAttackJudge; with TACZ installed, bullet hits resolve here as well (shot-authoritative, empty-space aim = pass-through). **If no companion mod is installed to consume shot claims, this mod applies the damage itself**, so guns work with DoxHitbox alone.**Weapon-blade melee** — with Better Combat, a swing's part is decided by the actual weapon (sword/axe) blade position captured from its rendered model — each weapon uses its own blade tip/length, no hardcoding.
**Weapon-length attack reach** *(2.x)* — with Better Combat, your reach is the length of the weapon your model is actually holding (eye to grip to tip), not the range the weapon was configured with. It goes through Better Combat's own extension point, so it does not fight that mod's targeting. Sweeping several targets at once still only applies to hostile mobs — Better Combat itself excludes neutral mobs from secondary targets.
**Debug tools**:
/doxhitbox debugwireframe overlay, and a posable invulnerable dummy (/doxhitbox dummy <stand|crouch|swim|elytra|sleep|…>) for alignment tuning. Config hot-reloads.
Minecraft versions
This mod ships two lines, and they are not interchangeable:
**1.x** — Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge
**2.x** — Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge
Both are maintained. Pick the file whose major version matches your loader; a 1.x file will simply not load on 1.21.1, and vice versa. Dependencies follow the same rule — 2.x mods require 2.x of the Dox mods they depend on.
Requirements
- **DoxCore** (required, matching version line). TACZ and Better Combat are optional — auto-integrated when present.
For modders
DoxObbHit.resolveHit(target, p0, p1)→ part id or"MISS";resolveHitContact(never MISS, snaps nearest);hasObbHitbox(target),clipStanding/clipProne.DoxAttackJudge.resolvePart(damageSource, victim)— the melee/arrow part entry point (consumer mods read the part string and apply multipliers / limb HP).DoxClaimBus— register a handler to apply damage for shot-authoritative claims (judgment here, damage in your mod). If nothing registers, this mod resolves and applies the hit itself.DoxGenericParts— server-side stash of client-resolved parts (favor-the-shooter melee & generic mobs).DoxPoseHooks—armOverride,upperBodyTwist,upperBodyRoll,extraCrawl,poseSyncPredicate.Tag
doxhitbox:obb_humanoid(entity_types) to opt an entity into humanoid OBB hitboxes.
