About this project

What does Modular Muskets add?

image Build YOUR musket with a choice of barrel, stock bracing, and an augment. Put them all together in a Musket Station.

What's New - Version 1.2.0

  • STOCKS ARE UP! Introducing 5 new custom stocks: padded, quartz, emerald, amethyst, and lapis. Each come with their own fun perks, so try them out!
  • Weapon Station stat preview now includes the augment, so magazine counts match the built weapon (this was a bug lol)
  • Third-person musket no longer points upward

Making a musket

  1. Craft a Musket Station and some Musket Balls.

  2. Craft (or find) a Barrel, a Stock, and a Bracing. The recipes unlock the second you pick up their materials.

  3. Open the station, drop in your three parts (plus an optional augment, see below), grab your musket.

  4. Sneak to aim, hold to reload, click to fire. Aim for the head, you deal more damage!

Recipes

Item Recipe
Musket Station 3 iron across the top, 6 planks filling the rest.
Musket Ball Iron nugget + gunpowder. Gives you 6.
Wooden Barrel 3 planks in a row, stick under the middle.
Wooden Stock 3 planks in an L, stick top-left.
Bracing Metal, stick, metal in a row.

No recipe for the musket itself. It only exists once you build it at the station. Recipes are unlocked when you get materials!

Barrels

8 to collect. Most are craftable off a Wooden Barrel plus a themed item. The two best are chest loot only. Percentages are the chance per chest.

Bone Slightly better. Wooden Barrel + bone
Resin Sticky shots that slow the target. Wooden Barrel + resin clump
Blaze Sets things on fire, and is extra powerful. Wooden Barrel + blaze rod, or nether fortress chests (20%)
Breeze Knockback and pierces through mobs. Wooden Barrel + breeze rod
Prismarine Marks targets and ricochets off walls. Wooden Barrel + prismarine shard, or buried treasure (20%) and shipwreck treasure (20%)
Echo Sonic slug. Ancient city chests only (10%)
Shulker Headshots instantly reload the next round. End city treasure chests only (30%)

Blaze and Prismarine you can craft or find. Echo and Shulker are rare!

Bracings

All crafted metal, stick, metal. They just change how the gun handles (reloading and stability).

  • Copper / Iron cheap, but the scope drifts fast and reload is slower.
  • Golden near-instant zoom, and the only one that speeds up your reload!
  • Diamond accurate zoom.
  • Netherite steadiest scope, tightest shot, and +1 magazine. Smith it from a Diamond Bracing.

Iron Bracing in dungeons (16%), Diamond Bracing in trial chamber reward chests (20%), Netherite Bracing in bastion treasure (24%), and a Wooden Stock in mineshaft chests (14%).

Ammo

Craft Musket Balls, or find them. They show up 4 to 12 at a time in nether fortresses, buried treasure, shipwrecks, bastions, dungeons, trial chambers, mineshafts, desert pyramids, jungle temples, pillager outposts, and strongholds.

Augments

Slot one of these vanilla items in the augment slot:

  • Spyglass proper scope and dead accurate while aimed.
  • Comparator 3-round burst.
  • Ender Chest +3 magazine.
  • Heart of the Sea shoots underwater.
  • Heavy Core more damage, punches through blocks.
  • Totem of Undying absorption on a kill.
  • Nether Star more of everything: damage, mag, faster reload.

Config

One file at config/niche.json, made on first launch. Edit it with the game closed. Scale recoil, change zoom, toggle scope sway, dial the vignette, or switch off all barrel abilities.

  • More barrel and stock tiers.
  • Weapon displays (like trophies).
  • More abilities and more barrels beyond the current 8.
