About this project
What does Besmirch add?
Events Chains & Progression
The first time you try to enter a Nether portal you will get a short 'vision' and a locator map that leads to a small abandoned structure deep underground. Within said structure is a small pin and the mod's guide/manual/documentation. Right clicking with the pin will use it up, creating a pinhole sized rift through which you can interact with the enigmatic entity named Besmirch. Besmirch will gift the player some valuables, but to get more, the player will need to use a Voided Needle to create (and then destroy) a Rift. Be wary, though, as doing so will slowly blot the lands near it...
Magic/Enchantments
Of the various loot that Besmirch can give, atleast one Void Spell is guaranteed to drop. Void Spells are a type of offensive magic that acts in a similar way to an enchantment, and can be imbued onto a weapon or piece of armor using an anvil. There are currently five Void Spells (10 if you include the armor equivalents), witch each spell causing a unique effect to happen.
Unique-ish Items
A new item called the Void Fragment can be dropped by certain enemies and found in chests. Combining these fragments with iron ingots in a crafting table yields Afflicted gear. Afflicted gear is weaker than iron, however, the wearer/user gets effects like haste, strength and resistance! Afflicted gear can be upgraded to Stricken gear by Besmirch, assuming you have a Strange Token. Stricken gear is comparable to diamond, but also has an enhanced version of Afflicted gear's special abilites.
Mobs/Entities
Besides Besmirch, there is the Void-Blot Rift, which itself creates Revenants and Visitants. Visitants are the result of undead becoming afflicted. Usually seen with Afflicted gear, they are weak on their own but become difficult to manage in large groups. Revenants are a sort aberration created from the void, and functions as a mini-boss. More durable and faster than Visitants, they dawn gear enchanted with Void Spells.
