About this project

What does Szymek's Star Wars (SSW) add?

Szymek's Star Wars Mod (SSW)

Build a lightsaber that is truly yours, master the Force, and choose where you stand between the Light and Dark sides.

SSW is a Star Wars-inspired adventure and progression mod for Minecraft. It combines modular lightsaber construction, kyber crystal mechanics, Force abilities, karma, village encounters, quests, and a growing economy into one connected system.

Beta notice: SSW is playable and actively developed. Balance, visuals, world generation, and progression may continue to change. Back up important worlds before updating.

Modular lightsabers

  • Assemble a saber from an emitter, switch, grip, pommel, internal components, and a kyber crystal.
  • Mix parts from five hilt families: The Chosen, The Son, The Dark Sword, Snips, and The Protector.
  • Use the Saber Workbench to build, store, display, repair, and modify a saber.
  • Preview the assembled 3D model and replace individual components, kyber crystals, or sound profiles.
  • Activate and retract the blade with matching animations and sounds. Active sabers do not use durability.
  • Claim ownership with Shift + right click. An owned saber is renamed to <player>'s Lightsaber.
  • Dropped sabers use their 3D model, can be collected with right click, and can be recalled with Force Pull.
  • Animals killed by an active lightsaber drop cooked meat.

Kyber crystals

  • Mine natural kyber deposits in caves beneath icy biomes; crystals cannot be crafted.
  • Tune a crystal through a compact colour interface: blue, cyan, green, purple, yellow, orange, magenta, or indigo.
  • At -85 karma, complete a 60-second bleeding ritual to create red kyber. There is a 5% chance to crack the crystal.
  • At +85 karma, complete a 60-second purification ritual to turn red kyber white. Cracked crystals remain cracked.
  • Only one Onyx Kyber can exist on a server at a time. It unlocks The Dark Sword blade and sound profile when installed in a complete matching hilt.

The Force

Arrange unlocked powers on a three-slot ability hotbar. Available abilities include Force Push, Pull, target suspension, Choke, Barrier, Mind Control, Stasis, Leap, Falling, Repulse, Heal, Dash, Wave, and Lightning.

Holding the key assigned to Force Pull suspends the target. Alt + that same key activates Force Choke immediately.

The progression screen contains five independent paths: Guardian (blue), Scholar (green), Sentinel (yellow), Balance (purple), and Dark Side (red). Major skills cost 5 vanilla XP levels and minor nodes cost 2.

Karma, villages, and economy

  • Karma ranges from -250 to +250 and changes the colour of the holocron-inspired HUD.
  • Killing villagers and iron golems lowers karma; killing hostile mobs raises it. Village defence and raids grant larger rewards, while ordinary animals do not affect karma.
  • Rare Jedi villagers defend villages from hostile mobs.
  • Quest Brokers offer combat and village-defence assignments for Imperial Credits.
  • Trade 5 Imperial Credits for a Beskar Plate and process plates into ingots in the dedicated Beskar Furnace.
  • Beskar Ingots are required to craft The Dark Sword hilt components.

Default controls

  • M — meditation and progression menu
  • G, V, B — ability slots 1–3
  • Shift + mouse wheel — scroll abilities
  • H — toggle the SSW HUD

All bindings can be changed in Minecraft's Controls menu, and the HUD displays the player's actual custom keys.

Requirements and compatibility

  • Minecraft: 1.21.1
  • Java: 21 or newer
  • Loaders: Fabric or NeoForge
  • Fabric: Fabric API required
  • Mod Menu: optional Fabric integration for editing visual settings in game
  • Architectury API is not required at runtime

SSW supports vanilla rendering, built-in PBR resource packs, and shader-based blade emission.

Operator commands

/karma set, /jedilocate, /makejedi, /onyxkyber, /locateonyx, and /crackkyber

Please report bugs with the loader, SSW version, shader/resource-pack setup, and reproduction steps.
