About this project
What does Vellumli add?
📖 Vellumli
Accessible, data-driven, dependency-free documentation for Minecraft.
✨ Overview
Vellumli lets modders and pack makers write in-game guidebooks for their content using nothing but data files — no Java, no dependency on any specific mod. Entries, categories, and multiblock/crafting-turn-in pages are defined in JSON and rendered as a fully navigable in-game book.
The mod is currently in early development (0.0.0-beta.1). The core book engine and page types are being ported first; the full feature set below reflects the target functionality inherited from Patchouli and will be enabled progressively across beta releases.
🎯 Planned Features
📚 Data-Driven Books
Define categories, entries and pages entirely as JSON data — books, categories and entries can be added or overridden by datapacks and resource packs without touching Java code.
🧭 In-Game Navigation
A fully-featured book GUI with category browsing, entry search, bookmarks and a landing page, so players can find the documentation they need without leaving the game.
🧩 Rich Page Types
Built-in page types for text, crafting/smelting/smithing recipe turn-ins, images, spotlight items, relations, quests and multiblock structures — enough to document almost any mod without custom code.
🔓 Advancement-Gated Content
Lock entries and categories behind advancements so documentation unlocks progressively as the player advances.
🗺️ Multiblock & Structure Preview
Preview multiblock structures in 3D directly from the book, including a "ready to build" check against the player's current world.
🧩 Dependency-Free by Design
Vellumli itself has no gameplay dependency on other mods — any mod (or datapack) can add its own book without needing to add code, only data.
