About this project

What does Forgotten Engineers add?

Forgotten Engineers

Long ago, there was an ancient civilisation of engineers who focused on portable technology. To rediscover their lost technology, Engineering Wisdom is scattered across the world on old parchments.

Engineering Wisdom

Restoration Wisdom

Can be found in Village Toolsmith or Weaponsmith chests, and if you're lucky, in Abandoned Mineshafts or Dungeons.

Distribution Wisdom

Can be found in End Cities chests, and if you're lucky, in Stronghold Libraries.

Compression Wisdom

Using archeology, these can be found in Trail Ruins, and if you're lucky, Warm Ocean Ruins.

Induction Wisdom

Can be found in Nether Fortresses and Bastions, and if you're lucky, Ruined Portals.

Universal Wisdom

Can be crafted by combining all the previous Wisdoms as well as the Engineer's Seal. It can be used to craft any device! The Engineers' Seal location can be found by transcribing the glyphs found on the Forgotten Engineering logo :)

Devices

Engineering Wisdom is used like Smithing Templates, as they can be duplicated, but they are primarily consumed when crafting Devices. All Devices are similar to Bundles, as they can hold a total of 64 items.

Restorer

Requires finding the Restoration Wisdom. The Restorer acts as a portable anvil for tools. It can only hold repair materials, such as Iron Ingots, Diamonds, Cobblestone, etc. When a tool has been damaged to the point it needs repair, the Restorer will automatically repair it! Compared to an Anvil, the Restorer bypasses the Too Expensive limit and doesn't require XP. It's very handy in the early game, before Mending is obtained.

Router

Requires finding the Distribution Wisdom. The Router will automatically place items you pick up into a Shulker Box. Adding items into the Router creates the filter which determines which picked-up items get funnelled into the Shulker Box. It's very useful for long mining trips, in that you don't need to constantly stop and empty your inventory into a placed Shulker Box. Like Shulker Boxes, Routers can also be dyed! They even support all modded Shulker Boxes too!

Compressor

Requires finding the Compression Wisdom. The Compressor will automatically craft items into their storage format. Adding items into the Compressor creates the filter which determines which picked-up items get crafted. It can only hold items that can be crafted into blocks using 4 or more of the same material. For example. Iron Nuggets get crafted into Iron Ingots. It even cycles through itself, meaning if the filter contains Iron Nuggets and Iron Ingots, they will both be compressed into Iron Blocks. It also works with turning Stone into Stone Bricks, Copper Blocks into Cut Copper Blocks, and uses the Stonecutter variant recipe to maximise efficiency. It even supports all modded storage recipes too, like if a mod added Bronze Ingots to Bronze Blocks!

Fuel Carrier & Induction Furnace

Both require finding the Induction Wisdom. The Fuel Carrier can hold a mixed stack of fuel items, such as Coal, Sticks, Bamboo, etc. The fuel is required for the Induction Furnace to function, and when detected, the Furnace lights up! The Induction Furnace is the ultimate furnace as it combines the recipes of the normal Furnace, Blast Furnace, Smoker, and Campfire! When you pick up items that match what you've placed in its filter, they will get instantly smelted! However, the input amount has to match the type of fuel in the Carrier. For example. the Induction Furnace will need 8 Cobblestone before it smelts into Stone if the Fuel Carrier contains Coal. The Fuel Carrier will also prioritise consuming the lowest quality fuel first. It will work with any mod that adds smelting recipes!

Upgraded Devices

Upgraded devices require Universal Wisdom to be obtained. All Devices (not just upgraded ones) have chained outputs. For example, this means Raw Iron can be smelted in an Induction Furnace and will be passed through a Compressor to craft Iron Blocks.

Mender

The Mender, an upgraded form of the Restorer, uses XP to restore any Mending tool it contains. This way, rather than forcing you to hold the Mending tool you wish to repair when collecting XP, by placing the tool inside, it will use your total XP to fix it. The Mender also allows you to craft Bottle o' Enchanting by placing Glass Bottles inside it. That way, you can store and transfer XP between deaths or players.

Ender Router

The Ender Router works the same as a regular Router, but instead of placing items into a Shulker Box, it will place those items inside your Ender Chest. The Ender Router takes priority over regular Routers and allows you to set up your Ender Chest as a portable factory! Items funnelled inside will go through Compressors, Strippers, Induction Furnaces, etc as if they were in your inventory. You could even set up Routers inside your Ender Chest so items can be automatically sorted into Shulker Boxes inside your Ender Chest.

Stripper

As the name suggests, the Stripper can automatically strip any log. It can also be used to scrape oxidation off any Copper Block, or even take the wax off. Like every other device, its output loops through itself. Meaning you could place a Copper Block of each oxidation stage inside, and when you pick up a fully Oxidized Copper Block, it would instantly return to its new state. The Stripper will work with every modded log block (that has a stripped variant) as well as any block that uses an Axe's scrape or wax off action!

Combustor

For obtaining all the Wisdoms, the Combustor allows you to shoot both Large and Small Fireballs! To shoot a Small Fireball (like a Blaze), it requires 1 Blaze Powder and 1 Gunpowder. For a Large Fireball (like a Ghast) it requires 1 Coal or Charcoal as well. It has a cooldown of 4 seconds between shots, and like their enemy counterparts, each shot can be deflected back by another player.
