About this project

What does Fullscreen Windowed/Borderless add?

Borderless Window adds modern borderless display modes to Minecraft 1.6.4 Forge, including legacy modpacks such as Tekkit.

The mod keeps Minecraft’s original exclusive fullscreen option intact and adds a separate Borderless setting to the Video Settings menu.

Display Modes

Borderless Fullscreen

Fills the monitor containing Minecraft without entering exclusive fullscreen.

This mode:

  • Uses the monitor’s native desktop resolution.
  • Removes the title bar and visible window borders.
  • Allows the mouse to move freely to other monitors when menus are open.
  • Provides faster and smoother switching between Minecraft and other applications.
  • Avoids changing the Windows display resolution.
  • Uses a multi-monitor-safe presentation method to prevent other displays from blanking.
  • Preserves the complete world render, HUD, menus, held items and block-selection outline.

Borderless Window

Creates a centred, borderless window using the resolution selected under:

Fullscreen Mode

For example, selecting 2560×1440 creates a borderless 2560×1440 window on a 4K monitor.

Off

Restores Minecraft’s ordinary decorated window, including its title bar and borders.

Video Settings Integration

The mod adds a separate setting without replacing Minecraft or OptiFine’s original fullscreen control:

Borderless: OFF
Borderless: Fullscreen
Borderless: Window

Click normally to cycle forward.

Hold Shift while clicking to cycle backwards.

Minecraft’s existing setting remains available independently:

Fullscreen: OFF / ON

This means genuine exclusive fullscreen can still be used whenever required.

Saved Settings

The selected borderless mode is saved automatically and restored the next time Minecraft starts.

Configuration is stored in:

config/BorderlessWindow.cfg

Commands

The mod also includes client-side commands for checking or changing the active mode:

/borderless status
/borderless off
/borderless fullscreen
/borderless window
/borderless reapply

Compatibility

  • Minecraft: 1.6.4
  • Mod loader: Forge
  • Platform: Windows
  • Side: Client only
  • Compatible with Forge-based legacy modpacks such as Tekkit.
  • Does not need to be installed on the server.

Current Behaviour

The selected Fullscreen Mode resolution controls the physical size of Borderless Window mode.

Borderless Fullscreen always renders at the monitor’s native desktop resolution. Selecting a lower resolution does not currently lower the internal rendering resolution while retaining a full-monitor borderless window. This avoids the rendering, mouse-alignment and HUD issues caused by experimental resolution-upscaling methods.
