About this project

What does Simple Noise Level add?

What is it?

Simple Noise Level is a lightweight and customizable noise indicator for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge.

It displays how much noise your character is making and reacts to movement, actions, in-game sounds, TaCZ firearms and optionally to your Simple Voice Chat microphone.

⚠️ NOTE: This mod is a visual client-side indicator. It does not modify mob AI, enemy detection or server-side hearing mechanics.

Features

  • Animated noise level indicator next to the hotbar
  • Reacts to movements and actions
  • Optionally : Detects firearm from TaCZ (if installed)
  • Optionally : Detect Simple Voice Chat microphone (if installed)
  • Two visual themes
  • Multiple animated noise lelvels
  • Red flashing effect when noise level becomes very high
  • Movable inventory configuration panel (using the middle mouse button)
  • Automatically saves your selected appearance
  • Client-side only
  • Lightweight and performance-friendly

Display Styles

Oscilloscope

A compact horizontal display inspired by audio monitoring equipment.

Orb

A smaller circular indicator designed for a minimal HUD.

Visual Themes

Clean

A simple and modern interface that fits regular Minecraft gameplay.

Post-Apocalyptic

A worn and damaged interface designed for apocalypse and survival modpacks.

Noise Detection

The indicator reacts to several sources of noise:

  • Walking
  • Sprinting
  • Jumping
  • Firearm usage (TaCZ)
  • Microphone activity (Simple Voice Chat)

The indicator becomes more intense as your noise level increases. When the maximum level is approached, a red warning effect appears.

TaCZ Compatibility

Simple Noise Level can detect firearm usage from TaCZ.

Using a recognized firearm causes the noise indicator to react, making the mod a useful visual addition to zombie apocalypse, tactical and survival modpacks.

TaCZ is completely optional and is not required to use the other features.

Simple Voice Chat Compatibility

Simple Noise Level can react to your local Simple Voice Chat microphone.

Talking, whispering or making noise through your microphone affects the displayed noise level.

Simple Voice Chat version 2.6.0 or newer is recommended.

Simple Voice Chat is optional. Without it, movement, action, sound and firearm detection will continue to work normally.

⚠️ Simple Voice Chat must be correctly installed and configured for microphone detection to work.

Configuration

Open your inventory to access the visual configuration panel.

Your selected appearance and panel position are saved automatically.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.20.1
  • Forge 47 or newer
  • TaCZ — Optional
  • Simple Voice Chat 2.6.0 or newer — Optional

Important Notes

  • This is a client-side HUD mod
  • It does not make zombies or other mobs hear the player
  • It does not modify mob detection ranges
  • It does not add server-side sound mechanics
  • TaCZ and Simple Voice Chat integrations are optional
  • Do not install multiple versions of Simple Noise Level at the same time
