About this project

What does Villageria add?

Villageria

Villagers with jobs that actually mean something.

In vanilla Minecraft, villagers have professions — but a librarian doesn't really behave like a librarian. It stands behind a lectern, trades with you, and that's about it.

Villageria changes that.

Villagers now have jobs you can actually watch them perform. They walk around the village, gather resources, carry materials, defend their home, repair buildings, care for animals, explore the world and keep the village running.

Nothing happens instantly.

When a creeper blows a hole in a house, a Builder doesn't magically repair it. The Builder walks to the damaged building, gathers the required materials from the village stockpile, carries them back and rebuilds the structure one block at a time.

When night falls, Police villagers wake up and gather around the village's Iron Golem to create a defensive perimeter. Night Scouts patrol the dark edges of the village and place real torches wherever darkness becomes dangerous.

And when a villager is injured, the Doctor comes to help.

The village feels alive because the villagers are actually doing the work.

8 professions

Every profession works like a normal vanilla villager profession.

Place the appropriate job block and an unemployed villager can take the job itself, just like a lectern turns a villager into a Librarian.

Right-click a role villager to trade with them.

👮 Police

Police villagers are the village's main defenders.

During the day, they sleep and recover. When night arrives, they wake up and take their positions around the village's Iron Golem, creating a defensive perimeter.

If a hostile mob enters the village, Police villagers respond and move toward the threat.

They wear iron armour and carry a pistol for ranged combat, switching to melee when enemies get too close.

🔨 Builder

Builders keep the village standing.

When a creeper or player damages a building, Builders identify the missing blocks, collect the required materials and repair the structure block by block.

They can also finish incomplete houses generated with a village.

If a block is too high to reach, the Builder can construct a temporary ramp or scaffolding path, use it to reach the required blocks, then remove it when the work is finished.

Builders never magically create materials. If the village runs out of resources, they stop working until more supplies become available.

🕯️ Night Scout

Night Scouts keep the village illuminated.

At night, they patrol the darker edges of the village and identify dangerous areas where hostile mobs could spawn.

They take real torches from the shared village stock and place them in suitable locations.

They don't simply make the village brighter automatically — you can actually watch them walking around and lighting it themselves.

🐄 Breeder

Breeders take care of the village's animals.

They locate the village's animal pens, search for animals that have wandered away and guide them back inside.

They also manage breeding and gradually grow the village's livestock population until the configured maximum is reached.

A village with a functioning Breeder slowly becomes a more reliable source of food and animals.

🧭 Explorer

Explorers leave the village to search for useful resources.

At dusk, they prepare their equipment, take supplies from the village stock and leave the village.

They explore the surrounding area, gather useful resources and return before dawn whenever possible.

Once they return, their collected supplies are added to the village's shared stockpile.

🏛️ Mayor

Every village can have one Mayor.

The Mayor is responsible for managing the village and deciding what needs to be done first.

The Mayor can prioritize:

Under attack → Repair → Light → Develop → Explore

Every other profession reacts to this priority.

The Mayor also helps fill vacant jobs and can commission missing village buildings when the village has the resources required.

The Town Hall serves as the Mayor's workplace and the administrative center of the village.

🩺 Doctor

Doctors take care of injured villagers and Iron Golems.

They can treat wounded villagers throughout the day and perform revival procedures at dawn.

When a villager or Iron Golem dies, the Doctor can attempt to revive them, one at a time, provided the required conditions and resources are available.

The Doctor gives villages a way to recover from disasters instead of permanently losing important villagers.

🛒 Shopkeeper

The Shopkeeper manages the village's economy.

They operate the village shop, handle its daily transactions and convert the day's earnings into useful village supplies.

The Shopkeeper also helps maintain the shared village stockpile, giving other professions access to the materials they need.

The shop becomes more than a decorative building — it becomes part of the village's economy.

Four buildings in every village

Villageria adds four dedicated buildings to every village.

These are not random optional structures. Each village receives one of each:

  • 👮 Police Station

  • 🩺 Mini Hospital

  • 🛒 Village Shop

  • 🏛️ Town Hall

The buildings are designed to look like they belong in vanilla Minecraft rather than feeling like structures from a completely different mod.

They use the same visual language as vanilla village houses:

  • Cobblestone foundations

  • Wooden corner posts

  • Plank walls

  • Glass panes

  • Stair roofs

  • Simple, functional layouts

Taiga and snowy villages receive spruce-themed variants to match their environment.

Each building comes with the appropriate workplace and is designed to house its assigned worker.

Police Station

A small village-style police station containing a workstation, storage and a barred holding cell.

Mini Hospital

A compact medical building with a treatment room and a subtle red-cross design.

Village Shop

A small marketplace-style building with a counter, storage and an exterior awning.

Town Hall

The administrative heart of the village, containing the Mayor's desk and a meeting table.

Iron Golems with actual roles

Iron Golems are no longer all identical.

Each Golem can now have one of four types, with its role saved directly on the Golem.

Standard

The classic vanilla Iron Golem.

Balanced and unchanged in spirit.

Heavy

A powerful defensive Golem.

  • 40% slower movement

  • 60% stronger attacks

  • 150 health

  • Specializes in holding important entrances and gates

Swift

A faster, more mobile Golem.

  • 65% faster movement

  • Lower attack damage

  • Designed to chase hostile mobs that attempt to flee

Guardian

A protective Golem focused on villagers.

Instead of wandering around an empty area, the Guardian prioritizes escorting and protecting the nearest villager.

Golems can actually see the whole village

Golems are no longer limited to reacting only when danger is directly in front of them.

A Golem standing near the village bell can detect a hostile mob approaching from another part of the village and respond before the enemy reaches the villagers.

This makes village defence feel coordinated rather than random.

The village works as one system

Every profession is connected through the village's shared resources.

The Mayor establishes the current village priority, while every role checks that priority when deciding what to do.

The village follows a general hierarchy:

Under attack → Repair → Light → Develop → Explore

The village also has a shared stockpile containing resources such as:

  • Torches

  • Timber

  • Building materials

  • Animal feed

  • Expedition equipment

  • Other profession-specific supplies

Shopkeepers and Explorers help replenish the stock.

Builders, Night Scouts, Doctors and other professions consume resources when performing their work.

If the village runs out of materials, villagers don't cheat.

A Builder will stop working and return later when the required resources become available.

No imaginary blocks. No instant repairs. No infinite supplies.

The Police Pistol

Police villagers have access to a dedicated pistol for ranged combat.

The pistol is also available as a usable item.

It features:

  • Hitscan shooting

  • 24-block effective range

  • Walls and solid blocks can block shots

  • 240 shots per weapon

Police villagers use the pistol when enemies are far away and switch to melee combat when they get close.

Designed to work with vanilla Minecraft

Villageria is designed to add new behaviour without destroying the vanilla villager system.

Vanilla AI remains intact

Trading, breeding, doors, panic behaviour, schedules and normal villager mechanics continue to work as expected.

Villageria adds profession-specific behaviour around the existing system rather than completely replacing it.

Builders are careful

Builders only repair blocks that were previously destroyed.

They do not randomly generate structures or overwrite intact player builds.

They also do not restore block entities, preventing situations where broken chests or other containers could be duplicated.

Configurable

Features can be enabled or disabled through the configuration file, allowing you to customize how much of Villageria you want in your world.

Diagnostics

Villageria includes an in-game diagnostic command:

/villageroles who

It shows nearby role villagers, their current activity and, most importantly, why they aren't doing anything.

If a Builder appears to be standing still, the command can help identify whether it is missing:

  • Materials

  • A valid task

  • A reachable location

  • Another required condition

This makes troubleshooting much easier when managing larger villages.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.1

  • Fabric Loader

  • Fabric API

Make your villages feel alive

Villageria isn't about giving villagers more trades.

It's about making villages feel like actual communities.

Builders repair their homes.

Police protect them.

Night Scouts keep the streets lit.

Breeders maintain the livestock.

Explorers bring back resources.

Doctors save lives.

Shopkeepers manage supplies.

And the Mayor keeps everything moving in the right direction.

Every task has a villager behind it.

Every resource has to come from somewhere.

Every repair takes time.

Your village doesn't just exist anymore.

It works.
